Visitors in your villa?

OK, I have searched for the answer and have come up empty... so.... even though it goes against my male nature to ask directions... I will bite the bullet and do so.

We are heading down to WDW next Tuesday and staying in a 1-BR at BLT for a few days before our Nov 14th Disney Cruise. Friends of ours (from the DIS) who are also on our cruise will also be at WDW at the same time, but they are staying off-property.

My question is: what is the policy on having non-DVC friends over to your villa, perhaps for lunch? I know we probably wouldn't be able to take them to the TOTWL, but what about the resort pool?

Please no flames, we are new to DVC (this is uour first trip home) and I'm unfamiliar with all the rules and etiquette.

Thanks in advance.

John

It was fine when my daughter's friend came over to visit us at AKV. They even cut a parking pass for her.

Yes, they can visit but will not be able to use the pool unless they are registered guest of BLT.

If you would like them to join you at the pool, you just need to add their names to your reservation. As long as you are under your occupancy limit for that room (5?), you can add them in. Otherwise, having them simply visit you in your room should be acceptable.

However, if you purchased the dining plan, they will also have to be on the dining plan.

Yellowstone was amazing and is a lot more inviting than Disney right now. Could we be selling it all in the near future? Maybe.

No dining plan for us... and seeing as there are 4 of us in a 1-BR and 4 of them, I don't see that option happening either.

Thanks to all for the replies.

Oh well....I guess that kills my idea. Sorry. They can still visit you in your villa, though. Regardless, have a great time.

They say the recipe for Sprite is lemon and lime, but I tried to make it at home....There's more to it than that!

We just returned from BLT today, and we had friends join us our first night. We went up to Top of the World and had appetizers and drinks with no problem. I would highly suggest this, as it cant be beat as a place to entertain

When people use common sense everything works fine. Disney has had to set cumbersome rules because people either leave their common sense at home or don't have any to begin with.
If your friends are not a large group and the pool and lounge are not real crowded then bring them along and enjoy yourselves. The villa and its surroundings are your 'home' and you have a reasonable right to use the facilities.
They don't do head counts unless the party is an unreasonable size. As long as one person shows a room key everything should be fine.

Hear Hear!

Dee696,
You forgot the fizz in the Sprite. Use a hypodermic needle attached to an old style bicycle tire pump. Then get a pucker...sucker to try it.

No day guests. Don't know where you heard that one. The pool is reserved for the guests of that resort. Not the guests of the guests.

I believe you are incorrect.

Technically yes, but lets be honest, do you think they're going to ask for EVERYONE's ID, no. Could they, absolutely, but as long as its no where near capacity, I don't think they have anything to worry about.

We had a friend come up and visit us from Sarasota the last time we were down, and no one ever even asked for proof that we were staying there or that our guest was registered.

One note, the above is not intended as an encouragement to break the stated rules, rather there are often exceptions to rules and sometimes even just asking the front desk will get you a different answer or "freebie" so to speak.

They didn't always check at SAB and the Polynesian either.

We often have friends visit us in our villa. Sometimes it is family who is staying elsewhere on site or friends in the area. One of the reasons we love DVC is that we CAN entertain in our villa b/c of its size!! We can offer food and drink form our kitchen and offer a couch to sit on, not just hotel beds!! Oh and the look on their faces when they first see our villa is always priceless!!!
