DH got a new job today!

Well, after over a year and a half of working as an electrician's apprentice (sporadically as jobs were available) and other odds and ends here and there...DH finally landed a full time job. Went in for the interview today and was hired on the spot. Starts Monday.

I had almost given up hope. He's in the National Guard and it seems that a lot of companies are really hesitant to hire because of the deployment possibility. He's put in tons of applications on days he didn't have work. The employer he worked with before having to go to training with the guard closed while he was away so he came back to no job and at a very bad time in the economy.

So happy!!!!!!

Just so you know-if anyone has ever said that this is the reason he was not hired-it is absolutely against federal law-and they can be fined.

excellent news!! my hubby was off work for 6 and a half months last winter....we've been married for more than 25 years and have never gone through anything nearly this bad. Let's hope the worst is over, even if it does not get back to how it was. We have learned to be a lot more frugal in how we spend our money, and find a lot less goes a lot further!

I know. No one has ever said that but just from what my boss has said (he's ARNG too - a CWO) even if a company has signed the "in support of the guard" statement.....doesn't mean a lot around here. DH sure did put in a lot of applications at places from the "in support of the guard" list.

He has been fortunate enough to have a couple of friends at church that he was able to work with here and there on projects. We also did learn to cut back on a lot of things. We also had several IRA's that we were able to cash out and pay off bills - not something I was happy about doing because of the penalty - but it was what needed to be done. That left us with only one small monthly loan payment (that will be paid off in April ) and our living expenses.

Thanks to all my DIS friends who have remembered us in your thoughts and prayers through this long journey!!!!!!
