Photographers: Where to order professional(larger size) prints?

We just had some semi-professional family pictures made. The photographer sold us the cd of our prints and included a copyright release and told me that I could order them online just as cheap as he could. He described a site, but you have to order 30" wide. I really want a 16x20 and some 8x10s(easier to get framing for). Can anyone point me to a good site for ordering professional looking prints?

TIA<
Jen

I really like Mpix. I especially love the canvas options.

The value and varity at SAMs is the best buy I found. I either order online one day printing or take it in and print as I shop.

The crew at ours is great. If something is off, I get a call and an adjustment for reprinting no cost has been done.

I paid more at Walmart, for a smaller size that had to be a few days, also, they were a bit off about the printing of my Disney pics.,
I did have a copywrite for those that i did print, also though my personal pictures they questioned where there was a copywrite,...
I had my disk with me if they wanted to see it.
Also, once I went in to pick them up for a one hour and they did not have ready a half day later, Then they had to run them, ran out ink and switched
It was not an easy day,

I needed them printed for an exhibit for Fall and was stressed. Rushed in all sweated up....
So I will stay at SAMs.

I would have to agree I get allot of pictures done at Sams -
Very reasonable for enlargements ,8x10 ect but even for the very large ones -
Last year I made my DML a big ???? 16X 20 (I don't remember but big )
Disney callage type thing with about 150 layers ,it was so cool I had it printed at sams and it was wonderful and crisp -
The only ones I do somewhere else are the small ones for graduation pictures ect ,because they don't round the corners all pretty at Sams so I go to proex for them -

Mpix is great, you can also check with your local independently owned photo shop. (I do not include Ritz Camera in there, I have had lousy prints with them. Talking the mom and pop sort of place.) Either will be a little bit more than Walmart, Sams, etc, but much better prints.

i have a very good camera, dslr. i use york photos for small stuff online and mpix for larger stuff. i had two 16 x20 made this year and they are stunning. i personally like metallic. Not cheap. i think around 60.00 for both photes. but the better quality than sam's, walmart.

PerfectPosters.com

I ordered some pictures from http://www.perfectposters.com/index.htm. You can get just about any size done there and you can get them on archival paper if you want. They have alot of options.

MPIX, MPIX, MPIX, you'll never go anywhere else. They do fantastic work, their customer service is beyond excellent and they have terrific options, (metallic, true black & white paper) that you won't find at most consumer labs. They are the consumer side of one of the best pro labs in the country, (Millers) and they use the same printers and color space. They won't be as cheap as some other places, but the quality is well worht the price.

Mpix is what I've used in the past, and I've been pleased.

I just got an email from Adorama, they're having a print sale for a few weeks. I haven't ordered from them before, but I've heard good things and plan on giving them a try!

our Sam's is not good ... it's a definite store to store thing with them.

I forgot to mention in my post that I've also had good luck with our Costco. But it is also YMMV.

I have to agree with the posters who recommend mpix.com. I posted this question on the photography board awhile back, and mpix was the overwhelming favorite (some of whom were professional photographers). My daughter was married this summer, and I also bought the rights to the pictures. I did a lot of 5x7's (ordered the professional album off ebay for much less than anywhere else) and several 11x14's. They all turned out beautifully. I was very impressed and thought their prices were very reasonable as well.
