Fisher Price Loving family dollhouse ?

Is this too "young" for a 5 1/2 year old? I really wanted to get the Melissa and Dough wooden dollhouse but DD keeps asking for the Fisher Price set. I notice the age recommendation is 3-6 on the FP one, do you think DD will be too old for this one? I don't want to buy it and her grow out of it in a year.

I think it would be fine b/c there are so many accessories to keep her interest, some with a lot of little pieces (ie home office has a laptop), Toys R Us has some exclusive accessories like camping items.

I just bought this for DD's 5th birthday and she loves it. She will be getting many of the furniture sets for Christmas. I think if your DD likes imaginative play it will hold her interest for many years. I am hoping that this dollhouse will last until maybe 7 or 8 years old, and then I'm guessing DD will upgrade to a Barbie house.

I just bought this for my dd6. She will be getting it for Christmas. We found it at Kmart for $64.99 and we had a $5 coupon for the kmart toy ad. We got all the furniture a few weeks ago when it was bogo at TRU. I think she is going to love this toy because of all the items you can buy with it.

DD has the Fisher Price Twin Dollhouse. She got it when she was 6 and 3 years later it is still a favorite toy with her and her friends.

I had this same dilema about 10 years ago with my older dd, she really wanted it but I felt she was too old for it already. My mom told me to get it so she wouldn't be dissappointed on Christmas morning, so I did. She was so happy to get it and played with it soooo much, it has since been past down to her younger sister who played with it for years too. Now they are 15 and 10 and every once in a blue moon it still gets dragged in the house to be played with (of course they would never admit to it LOL). This is one of the few toys I am keeping to pass down to her kids. We have bought so many of the sets over the years that we need a BIG tote to keep it all together.

Your making a great choice with buying it! I still have mine and im 21 I have the first fisher price loving family doll house (the light pink, light blue, and white one). I got it when I was 5 or 6 and played with it for probably 5 years. Its one of my childhood toys i'm saving along with my american girl dolls.

My daughter is only 4 but she loves hers. Make sure if you buy it at Toys R Us you get it this week because the minivan is free with purchase. You have to have the minivan! How else can you go on daytrips with the loving family? LOL. I admit it. I'm a grown up who enjoys decorating the dollhouse for my preschooler!

It's online right now. You have to buy the Grand Loving Family doll house to get the free minivan. I don't remember which one that is.

My DD is 9 and still plays with this. I think PP is right that the trick is having the accessories. I found bags of them at a consignment sale once for $5.00 and scooped them all up. It has made the playtime with this dollhouse last forever. She sets everything up, plays, then rearranges....spends hours with it.

My 7 year old was playing with hers last night...and it is a hand me down toy from my 15 year old who received it at age 8,because she loved the neighbors dollhouse.Probably one of best toys we ever bought. My kids even use Mcdonalds toys and Polly Pockets in it.

My 6yo dd still loves playing with hers. I get her a new room set for it every once in a while to keep her interested.
