Is meeting the characters at AK's Camp Minnie Mickey like at MK's Mickey's Toontown?

We've given up on meeting characters at MK's Mickey's Toontown Fair because we just didn't find it to be any fun. I'd like to give AK's Camp Minnie Mickey a try but I'm worried the waits and experiences will be like those at MK's Toontown - waiting in long lines, thinking you're almost there only to find out you're just entering another waiting room, finally getting there and the characters being in a not-very-inviting space.

At Camp Minnie Mickey, the characters are all outside, right? Do the lines tend to be very long? Any tips on the best time to go?

TIA!

they're in individual lines. not too bad usually though, particularly when compared to princesses who like to talk.

When we went earlier this year, we were there a bit before Camp Minnie Mickey opened up (were heading to FOTLK) and there were only a handful of people and so many characters that they almost seemed to be waiting for us to get to them. Not sure if it's more structured if it's busier but at that time there were no lines or anything -Highly recommend trying just before that section opens (I think it opens a little later than the rest of the park sort of like ToonTown)

My best advice is to get there early if you don't want to wait in a very long line. I've seen some pretty long lines but they do move quicker than you think they are going to move. They are all outside and you can see them as you are waiting in line.

AK is a great place to meet characters. If you get there early, as OP stated, you may even get some pics with multiple characters at once. With so many people running for EE or the safari, the characters are kinda waiting for us to arrive!!

If you go after everyone is inside and seated for the Lion King show (next door,) the lines will be pretty short. Immediately before and immediately after the Lion King show, it will be a mob scene.
