WWYD Arrival night TS?
Currently have California Grill booked for 5:35 pm on my arrival day...plane get's in to MCO at 1:15 pm... wanted to spend that night at MK and catch the last night of the holiday wishes (10pm) but I don't want to spend all night eating and losing a big chunk of time at the restaurant.
I am traveling solo for my birthday and my other TS are: Chef Mickeys (b) Mama Melrose (d) Coral Reef (d) CRT (b) would you rather scrap the TS and just have CS in MK or switch it for say Crystal Palace where im right in the MK or 1900 Park Fare and dinner wont take as long? Just not sure what to do ...TIA!

As a solo diner you will always have the option of eating at the bar at signature restaurants. I would head to the MK and enjoy the day/evening at the park. Also remember that you have a credit card guarantee at CG and if by some chance you accidentally miss your reservation due to flight delays then you will incur a penalty.

It sounds like you are just looking for a place to eat. I would not go to CG unless I wanted to relax and enjoy the meal. If you want to hit MK for the majority of the evening then I would either try to get Kona Cafe at the Poly, the Plaza in MK or maybe just CS when I was hungry.
Another option would be to head over to the park and have a snack to hold you over and schedule a later meal at the Poly and watch the fireworks from the beach.

I always try to go to Kona for the first night.
For me getting a Lapu Lapu at Disney is always a must. Even if it is just a Mai Tai in a pineapple.

CaliGrill is harder since so many people want to see the fireworks, but sitting at the bar after fireworks is easy. My client was WDW so I had a lot of evening hours to kill alone, hence all the solo dining. I sit at the bar almost exclusively when traveling for work, even in cities outside the "World." Not exactly on topic but almost any bar in a hotel will bring you food from any of the hotel restaurants, maybe not so at all Disney hotels, but a bar inside a restaurant will generally serve food if the bar isn't absolutely slammed, which I have never found to be the case a Disney restaurant bar at dinner time. |

I wouldn't do any restaurant that requires a credit card guarantee on an arrival night when you are arriving by plane. Just another consideration regarding your California Grill reservation.

I think when you eat solo it cuts way down on your meal time, so I would keep the Cali Grill ADR. They will also not be very busy at 5:30 so you'll probably get quicker service than you would later in the evening.
If you were going to go somewhere like Jiko, which is at the opposite end of the "world" from the MK, then I would say scrap that. But Cali Grille is the closest restaurant you could go to without actually being inside MK.
