Doll and Me clothing AG savings help
Well I finally took the plunge and bought DD5 an American Girl doll. I would love to get a matching outfit or pj's for her and the doll but they are so expensive on the AG site. Does anyone buy these sets anywhere cheaper? I looked on etsy but I don't know what to search for.

I've had luck finding pj's at resale shops. I then go on eBay to find the matching doll goods. I just won a pair of snowflake pajamas for about $14 (inc. s/h) for a pair of pajamas I got at Once Upon a Child for $4.50.
This is the cheapest way I know to do it to get the AG stuff for cheap. I've seen stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx carrying non-AG brand dresses that come with a doll dress that fits the AG dolls. I'm curious to hear other ideas. I just got DD6 the Julie doll and spent close to $100 on a matching outfit for her and the doll.

Burlington Coat Factory carries dresses with matching doll dresses, not sure about pj's and like the PP poster stated TJ Maxx & Marshalls as well. Good luck!

Check out BJs -- they have 4 or 5 styles of girl/doll pajamas -- gown style and pant styles for $14.99. They also have the dolly and me dresses there for Christmas for $18.99. That is soooooo much less than AG!!!
HTH!

I agree with the previous poster that I have found some cute girl/doll outfits at BJs much cheaper than AG. My local Sears also has a number of holiday dresses with matching doll dresses reasonably priced (keep an eye out for sales) so you may want to check there. Good luck in your search!

Kohls has some Dolly & Me holiday dresses for the same amount or less than just one doll outfit on AG.

I lucked out and found a nightgown at the Goodwill for $2.50 that matches my DD's bitty baby's PJs. Then, I picked up the Julie set from QVC, which came with the girl PJs as well as the doll ones. She'll be getting that for XMas.

Sears has a ton of Dolly and Me outfits. They are 40% off this week.

Watch buying the doll dresses at Kohls. I did that last year, and the sleeve openings were much smaller than the AG doll's hands. My DD doesn't use the dress anymore, because it is so hard to dress her doll.

Do the Dolly & Me pajama sets fit the 18" American Girls or the Bitty Baby/Twins? It's hard to tell from the pics online, but the gowns look like they would be more suited for the baby... Do they have these in store at Sears too?

I have to tell all you moms with girls who like the American girl Dolls that I was at Marshall's tonight and they had Christmas dresses for girls and matching ones for their dolls! Where was this a couple of years ago when my DD wore those sizes!!!

Both the pajamas and dresses say for 18" dolls. Last year we sucessfully dressed bitty baby in the 18" doll dress -- it was a bit tricky around the hands, but they both looked great. The pajama set sleeves are looser/have elastic at the wrists.
I think the dresses at BJs, Kohls and maybe Sears are the same brand. I have also seen the dresses at Burlington Coat Factory...very pretty, and there are some sleeveless styles!
