The Passing of the Balloon

We bought a balloon for our son on the first night of our stay but cannot take it on the airplane. So, on our departure, my 4 year old son picked another child checking in and passed the balloon to them. Suprisingly, he was not upset and I thought this was a nice teaching moment about giving. Do other people do this? If not, what do you do with balloons?

We did this as well when we where there in September. We went to DTD or lst day and my 4 year old son gave his Mickey balloon to a little girl. It just so happened to be her birthday and she was very excited (as were her parents ). I also thought of it as a great teaching moment and my son was so tickled that he made that little girl happy.

Yes! DS did this last trip. My son is so funny... he's a big, tall almost-14 guy, but he's 4 again if he even spots a balloon. LOL He hung onto last trip's balloon until the very last minute. We were waiting for ME to pick us up to go back to the airport, and a DCL bus pulled up. A little girl and her mother got off, and DS went over and handed her his precious Mickey balloon. Her face just lit up, and so did my son's. I hope that little girl got as much enjoyment out of that balloon as my son did!

Hi DisneyFamily123,
I just wanted to say that is a wonderful story. You should be very proud of your son. This is a great idea and something that I think others should consider doing. Pay it forward works with all sorts of things. Thanks for sharing.

Not a balloon but..

This past June our kids (6 & 7) passed off their water mister fans to 2 kids checking in when we were checking out. DD7 passed hers to a little boy and said "Here...you are definately gonna need this!"

The balloon and mister things are really cool. People spend so much time/money/effort to make it to WDW, the thought of other guests doing a good turn is truly magical

I think this is an awesome idea and a nice way to pass on some magic!

BUT I have to say I was shocked (knowing how strict security is in Orlando) in September after hearing how you can't bring the balloons onto the plane, etc. by parents who were going to pass their balloons onto others that we did see a child putting the balloon thorugh security in Orlando and boarding the plane with it. (Not the plane we were on, so not sure it actually made it on, but they were on line to board)
Is it really not allowed or was there a major breakdown of rule following?
It was just a conversation piece for my DDs and me for a while at the airport.

Like I said, a wonderful gesture to pass it on!

OP, that is great! We pass a balloon...but it is just DH and I and we do it in memory of my dad who passed away last year (he always bought a balloon for our kids wherever we went and this was the way we chose to honor/remember him each trip to Disney).
