Senior year spring break! Where to stay?

Hi Everyone,

I am currently a junior in college planning her senior year March spring break. (You could say I'm a bit OCD.... ) I just know from experience that any Disney trip needs to be well-planned- especially if it's for a large group. I am very fortunate to have amazing, loving parents who are giving me their DVC points to enjoy as a graduation present. Right now I'm deciding between the new BLT MK view and BCV. We will be getting a 2-bedroom for 6-8 women.

I have had the opportunity to stay at the BCV in a 2-bedroom with my parents and bff for my hs graduation. We had a fabulous time, and I loved the resort. I don't mind staying at the BCV again; my main priority is that the guests in my group having an amazing time and loving WDW as much as I do (if they don't already). We will be going to all the parks and DTD. (I have a feeling that Epcot and MK will be the favorites). We will not have our own cars and will be on the Disney dining plan to make things easy. My friends and I (well, I hope I am hahaha) are all very respectful women, extremely talented and smart. This will probably be the last time that we can all travel together, as I can already foresee the majority of my friends receiving job contracts around the world. (Crossing my fingers that the economy will be better in late 2011! )

I would really appreciate it if you could help me out and give me a suggestion as to where to stay with my friends that's enjoyable, safe, and fun. I'm a bit biased from past stays and from what I know and like, so I'd love opinions from experienced DVC members! Thank you so much for your time!

I've been to WDW in March for my spring breaks and it's not always poolside lounging weather, so my vote for you would be the BLT, MK view. What an outstanding gift, and you sound so appreciative, I'm sure you and your friends will have a great time in whatever DVC villa you decide on!!!

Like all (great) DVCers, you're planning well in advance of the trip!

I'd go with BLT - that extra bathroom will come in very handy for a group of 6-8 young women!

Just to throw a different perspective in.....it would be nice to be able to walk into Epcot....a group of young women, dinner in Epcot, drinks, fireworks. Then you always have the nighttime fun at Boardwalk, which would be just a walk over from BCV. And now with the no valet thing, parking in that area would not be great. Although, if you are lucky enough to get in at BayLake, it might be great to have the extra bathroom, and nightly fireworks out your window.

Have a blast.

hmmmm....what will you be doing in the evenings? DTD?
If so, how about SSR? You can walk to/from DTD at night and not have to worry about busses since you won't have cars.
During the day, you can take busses to park.
Just another option to throw out there.
Enjoy and congratulations!

Between the choices you listed I think the best would be BLT for a couple of reasons. The monorail is right at your door so you can either go the MK or Epcot very easily. Second is the wow factor of a MK view for fireworks either from your room or TOWL. Another suggestion would be AKL. The wow of having the animals at your balconey and the impression of the Jambo House lobby are fantastic. It is so nice to hear a young adult appreciate the gift of this nature from their parents. They should be very proud of you. Whatever your choice I am sure you girls will have the trip of a lifetime together.

I guess my question would be where do your parents own? From what I have heard, March timeframe can be difficult to book anything but their home resorts due to spring breaks. If they own at both BLT and BCV, I would definitely go for BLT for all the above mentioned reasons 1) 3 bathrooms in a 2bd definitely need this when dealing with 6-8 women, 2) MK view can't be beat, 3) Ease of getting to what you imagine will be the favorite parks.

However, if they don't own at either of those resorts, you may be relegated to booking at the other home resort, and waitlisting for what you want.

I will tell you now that they closed the clubs in DTD it is mainly a shopping area, but I have no idea what Disney has planned for the area. Although, I do love my Ghiradelli sundaes! They need to add those as a 2 fer snack credit on the dining plan! I would be happy to use 2 snack credits for that!! LOL.

In a similar situation (taking friends to WDW this March for our last law school spring break), I chose AKV. I just think AKV savanna view is a really unique experience and love having giraffes outside my room! This is the same reason we picked AKL as the hotel for our wedding room block for our guests.

That said, either BLT or BCV would be fabulous... we love both of those, particularly for the convenience factor. Can't go wrong!

blt - first - besides is my favorite.

second - BCV or BWV - because of walking or boating to Epcot and Studios

third - AKV - especially Kidani - it also has 2 bathrooms in the 1-bedroom. It also have nice big rooms.

Thanks, everyone. Wow! I am so grateful to have found this site several years ago. The best advice can be gathered on here- seriously. Amazing. OK, off to study for prelims so that I can actually call myself a senior next year.

Split your stay

Stay half a week in each place. No one says you can't have the best of both!
The resort will move your luggage for you while you're at a park.

I'd vote for BCV. As mentioned above, walking to Epcot is great. We were at BWV 2 weeks ago and commented on how nice it is to walk in the side gate to Epcot and miss all the crowds. It is an elegant way to go in, in our opinion.

Don't forget, you can also walk to DHS.

For a great evening, try Jellyrolls on the boardwalk. Check out http://www.jellyrolls.us/.

I am another vote for a split stay especially if your stay is 9 days or longer
