Long shot on a lost and found issue!!

I know this is a shot in the dark to even ask, but we discovered the other day that our DS6 lost his treasured hat in our travels most likely on 10/30 in Epcot, on a bus or at POR Riverside. The hat is a khaki-colored Columbia brand "safari" style hat with "Nathan" on the inside. The treasured part of this is that he personally had his hat autographed by Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto. Our other kids have the same awesome souvenir for our future trips and the little guy is feeling left out now....

Anyway, I realize this is a long shot to even ask here if anyone found the hat, but told DS that I would do what I could to try to locate his "Mickey hat". I know the hat is a goner, but just trying...Thanks for reading! Email or PM are fine should anyone have come across the hat..

Did you contact Disney Guest Relations? I would start there.

Central Lost and Found at 407-824-4245. Here is the phone # from allearsnet.com. If you call them with all the info you posted, they might be able to help you. My neighbor's daughter lost her baby doll, she called them, we scanned them a photo, and they found it and returned it to her no problem. Good luck!

Definitely call lost and found. A few years back, my daughters blanket got taken with the linens. I gave them a description and they mailed it back to us. It took several weeks, but was well worth it to see the smile on her face. Good luck!

On our honeymoon I lost my wedding band at the old River Country Water Park(next to Ft. Wilderness). It slipped off when I released from the zip line in the middle of the sand bottom lake. We immediately let a cast member know and they searched for a while with no luck. We told guest services and about a month later we got a phone call that they had found a wedding band when they were doing some maintenace work. I knew it was mine because I had made a pretty big scratch on the wedding band the day before on the bottom of The Contemporary's pool. So if they can find a ring in a lake, there is a chance to find your son's hat. Good Luck.

My DSIL left her expensive running jacket in the stroller when they returned it. She called and after a few days they found it at AK lost and found and she eventually got it back. There is hope.

I wish there had been a thread like this last summer....I lost a very expensive bracelet at BB. We got off one of the slides and we were approached by a Dream Team member and given passes to come back to BB. When I reached out to take them I noticed that my bracelet was gone. I'm still heartbroken I really loved that bracelet and the only reason I had it on was because I never took it off.

My son left his hat in the mess thing on EE in 2007. The next day we checked central lost and found and they had it. He was happy to get it back.

I know that other people have reported great stories about getting precious items back, but we've batted almost .000. Over the years our family has lost around 6-7 hats at WDW. Each time we filed a report, each time nothing was found. On a couple of them personalized guest of honor badges were also securely pinned on them. Zero.

Part of the problem, for us, is that Disney's lost and found system is WAY too efficient for the guest's own good. Each attraction has it's own place to store lost items, and they are then frequently collected and send to the L-n-F area for the park, and then forwarded to a central facility at WDW. We've found that once an item is picked up from the attraction, your chances of getting it back drop to the single digits. Several times one of our kids realized that they'd left their hat on a ride at an attraction about 10-15 minutes after the fact. We'd run back to the attraction, only to be told that it was just picked up and we'd need to go the park's Guest Relations office. We'd comply, but knew that we'd likely never see it again. Only once did we manage to beat the L-n-F guy to the punch and make it back to the attraction before our toddler's hat had been sucked into the WDW L-n-F "black hole".

Congratulations!!!

You might want to not let him know, yet, to avoid the inevitable "did it come? when will it come?" questions you'll get everyday until it arrives.

Those cast members at WDW are TOOO good. Our last trip out I lost my wife. A few days after I got home, there she was!! The odd thing is that I never reported it to Disney. Thanks Disney, thanks a lot.
