Totally crazy- last min. trip in December- what week?

So we're thinking we may be crazy and take a last minute trip in early December. Can anyone tell me which would be better for crowds? The first week or second week of December?

I always go 2nd week of December, this year 12/5-12/12, my birthday week!
I find crowds manageable, the weather nice during the day (can get chilly at night). The resorts may be all booked but offsite hotels won't be, that's why crowds to me are very manageable.

Either week is usually a good time to visit. However, I have heard that this year there are no more rooms available on property.

Good luck and have fun planning.

Yep, with all of the special deals they have been offering you may have a hard time getting a room and the ADRs you want may be impossible. We have been many times in early December and it has gotten more and more crowded each time.

If you look at the discount calender the second week is no longer listed. I know there are no value resorts available this week. I would go the first week. I am going the second week and have had to change around a few adrs lately and haven't had too many problems but I am not eating at the more popular places either. Wishing I could go the first week though. I picked this week due to low crowd levels. It doesn't look like it is going to happen.

Have a geat trip.

Interesting Nancy! I was leaning towards the second week, since that's my birthday, but I'm learning there is better resort availibity in the first, so that would definitely support your advice! We still don't know if we're going to do this, but we need to hurry up and decide!

I had reservations for months for Dec10-14 at Polynesian with free dining. I decided about a month or so ago to change to room only for 12/10-13 and move over one night to universal. I called and they said I could keep the Poly room but full price. Only very expensive places/suite left. Then nothing. I finally found a travel agent that had someone cancel their reservation at WL. Snagged it for $207/night.
Then decided a few days ago for a quick trip 11/27-29 and thought no way would I get a room Thanksgiving weekend. No only did I, but I got a Florida Resident discount of $129 for CBR.

Good luck. I think it is hit or miss right now.

Whatever week you can find a room available. Alot is booked up, though I have heard people having luck booking thru expedia and other 3rd parties.

I just wanted to add that you are not crazy -- or I am too! I just got off the phone with DVC and booked a quick trip 12/11 for the MVMCP! Good luck!

If you are trying to stay onsite you should try Travelocity. (You can look at Orlando then sort by WDW resorts) I got a room at POR a couple of weeks ago for $96 a night. (12/02/09 -012/06/09) Play around with the dates if you have some flexibility. I just looked it up again and POR was not available for my dates, but CBR came up for $179. I tried 12/11/09 - 12/15/09 and was offered POR for $96. Good Luck!! If you are crazy then so am I... and don't it feel good?
