Slide at Castaway Cay - The DIS Discussion Forums

Anyone know when the slide will be open at CC? We cruise in March and from photos I have seen it looks like it is complete or close to it so am hoping it will be up and running by then!

When we were there on Oct 23, the sign said Summer 2010.

I read somewhere on these boards that a CM said it would be the first of the year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for earlier than summer 2010.

It looked complete when it sailed into the dock! The issue is mounting it, hiring and training additional lifeguards, etc.

We were there is past Oct 2nd, and it was totally built, but not open. They said not till next summer. We are going again next Nov and our kids are thrilled that it will be not only built but up and running. It looks cool.

I think it's been said that the completion of the additions to Castaway Cay (slide, Cookies 2, the family cabanas, longer family beach, etc.) will all be done by Summer 2010. That's not to say that everything will open at the same time, just that everything will be done by then.

So, it's possible the slide could be opening anytime between now and next summer.

I already know when it will be open. It will be the week after we are there. If we change our sail date they will change the date the slide opens so it’s still the week after.

Just like the bounce back offer was the week after we sailed this year.

Disney plans all these things around our schedule so we just miss everything.

I asked last Saturday on CC and was told January. It just needs to be positioned and hooked up to electric. I suggested to keep it covered until then to avoid the kind of trauma we went through!
