Park n Fly Hotel in Detroit

Looks like we're flying out of Detroit in February. We love flying out of Buffalo, but the fares are FAR better out of Detroit for this trip. Our flight leaves DTW insanely early (5:40 a.m!). Any suggestions for a good park n fly hotel? DH wanted to stay at the Westin in the airport until we found out it was going to cost $375! Looking for something super close with a good shuttle early in the morning at a better price than the Westin.

Thanks for the suggestions!

We have stayed at the Fairfield Inn and it is nice and clean. I have a park and fly package booked for spring break and it is only $89 but it is only 8 nights parking, but that is all we need this trip.

It is right by the airport parking lot so it is easy to park your car there walk back to the hotel and then take the hotel shuttle in the morning. We had no problems with the shuttle either way last time.

That sounds like way to much money. When are you flying out? I know that the weekends are a lot cheaper than weekdays. We are staying there on Jan 30, Saturday night and get parking for ten days at a rate of $135.00. We are also staying there on Nov 19'th. This is a Thursday night and we got the AAA rate of $169.00 plus 10 days parking. The $375 rate sounds off. Who quoted you this room rate, the hotel or central reservations. The Westin is so handy, not only will you get an extra hour of sleep by not having to catch the shuttle, you can put your shorts on since you do not have to leave the terminal, you can clear security at a special immigration entrancejust off the lobby and when you get home and waiting for your luggage to arrive, just phone the hotel and your car will be warmed up and waiting for you. I would double check that rate again

We also stayed at the Fairfield Inn when we went in March and LOVED it! Clean and really nice pool. Only issue we had was there isn't anywhere good to eat for supper around there.

My friend is going on a cruise in a week and she got a deal to stay at the Marriott right at the airport with 8 days of parking for $89.

Enjoy your trip!!

We stayed at the Days Inn across from the airport and it was AWEFUL!!! The first room smelled like a mouldy old fridge. There was mould in the bathroom of the second room and we stuck it through. It was recommneded to us by my brother and we concsidered it a lesson learned.

Thanks to everyone for your advice so far. We'll look into the Fairfield Inn (and stay away from the Days Inn!)

I checked their website again, and it is a bit exaggerated (I think DH looked at a club room or something)- but the price is still higher than we're willing to pay for the park n fly package ($259 plus tax for a basic room). I am going to try calling directly and see what I get. We're leaving on a Thursday in early February (so we'd need the hotel on Weds night). I noticed that there is a promotion for parknfly, but it runs out at the end of the year. Hoping that maybe the promotion will be extended and the price will drop closer to our dates. The convenience of being right at the airport is worth a bunch to us - just not sure if it's worth that much.

BTW - tgropp - how did you get both a AAA rate and parking included? I could only see room only rates with AAA on the web?

I had to ask for it over the phone as it is not listed on the SPG website. Try the 1-800 # and ask for the AAA/CAA rate which should be around $170 Plus 10 days parking. If they cant help you, phone the hotel directly. It is more money than the other hotels but the added benifits are worth the extra $70.00. Staying at the Westin Metro Airport hotel is a great way to start your holiday.

I stayed at Westin last year and it is a beautiful hotel.....and you can eat in the airport ...we really liked it. We had a room facing the runway and it was so cool watching planes take off and land

I just booked a club level room with CAA at $199 plus tax for Oct 18 a Tuesday ....

We didn't park there as I feel nervous driving in Detroit so we park in Windsor for free and take Robert Q airbus to Detroit....
