Do you have specific grocery prices you'll pay?
Or do you just buy what you need, or buy what's on sale?
Here's a few of mine- curious what yours are: Pepsi- 2.50/12 pk or 5.00/24 pk Bread $1 or less Kotex $1 Snack Crackers, will pay up to $2 but usually less (cheezits .49 this AM) Cereal- ditto snack crackers Milk- Always 2.50 or less at Meijer for a gallon but I think it's more like 2.00 now Shampoo/Conditioner-can usually get free or under $1 from Walgreens or CVS for brand names. |

Soft drink: less than 25 cents per can. (Load up at 15 cents per can. If I can't find it cheaper than 25 cents, we go without).
Dish soap: $1 per bottle Chicken breasts: $2 per pound. |

Helped solve the mystery of Edward's mipple. My parents were both hippies, and I turned out to be the responsible one. I squealed and then I squished it.

We save in other areas so that we don't have to skimp on groceries, but we do love sales. While we do usually look for a sale on my precious Cokes, we usually just buy what we want at the grocery store because we save the money in other areas.

Everything has a price limit here, unless it is something we are completely brand loyal to like Tide detergent, and I won't pay more than $5 for that, and have never gone without.
Dial soap-3 bars less than $1. Cheese-3 for 5 for slices at Kroger. Ground beef-.99/lb. We won't need that for 4 months with the last Kroger sale Coke/pepsi-$1 for a 2 litre. We really don't go to the store when we "need" things, we go when the ads are good to stock up on what we would use in the future. Our weekly items are produce and milk, we freeze bread. |

We won't pay more than $2 a box for name brand cereal (we usually get it much less), $7 for a jumbo pack of diapers/pull ups (only use Pampers), and tubs of wipes have to be less than $2 (Pampers).

I try to catch things on sale now, but I am not fanatical about it at all. If I need it and it is not on sale I still buy it. Up until about 3 years ago I lived in a small town with one grocery store. You paid what they asked or drove an hour to a chain store. We would make the drive once a month for most stuff, but for produce, milk, bread ect, you were at the mercy of that one store.

Well, considering we are going back to no processed foods of any kind......not really. We won't be buying any of the items listed.

Boneless/Skinless chicken I only buy when it's less than $2/pound.
(Krogers has it $1.79/lb this week so I'll load up) Vegetables... Frozen I only buy when Krogers has them 10/$10 or I have coupons that make them that much or less. Canned I only buy for .50 or less. They are 10/$5 at Krogers right now so I'll stock up for the winter. Ground beef I'm picky on.. I hate Krogers... so I watch the local grocery store or butcher in town and stock up when it's affordable. Local grocery store has it for $1.88/lb this week so I'll buy quite a bit and freeze. Other things... snack items, fruits, stuff for DH's lunch, baby care items I stock up on when they're on sale and/or I can get them cheap with coupons. DH gets whatever I get on sale as the side items in his lunch.. sometimes Babybel cheese, sometimes granola bars, etc. It makes it cheap and keeps things different for him, too. I have enough wipes and diapers stocked up that Lucas won't need them all.... so we have a headstart for the next kiddo that hasn't even been conceived ... I still buy diapers when I can get them $2/3 pack with coupons though. Great gifts! Tubs of wipes I can sometimes get .50/$1 or so each so I still buy those, too.

Similar to this, there are certain "sale prices" that usually get my attention:
- Chicken breasts for 99 cents a pound (For that price, I'll skin and bone them myself, thank-you-very-much!) - Chuck roasts for 1.99/lb or less - Steak tips at 3.99/lb - Ribeye at 5.99 - Tenderloin at 7.99/lb (being budget doesn't always mean cheapest! )Did I mention I like to stock up on nice steaks? Mac and Cheese under 50 cents a box. Canned vegetables at the same price point, occasionally. |

Wow! We moved to CA where the prices are crazy high! The prices you guys have quoted do not really exist out here. I am a major coupon shopper and even go to 4 grocery stores a week chasing the good deals and still our prices are much higher. Oh well, it is beautiful-off to the beach!
