Anyone else taking a roadtrip over long Thanksgiving weekend?

DH and I are driving 13 hours to visit family in Ohio from our NH home. We both took off Wed before Thanksgiving - so we will most likely leave late Tuesday night after work and drive for however long we feel like it, get a room and then do the bulk of the trip Wednesday.

Note: we have made this drive many times before and can do it in one shot if we have to.

So Thursday will be hang with family, watch football and eat.

Friday - we will drive 1 hour each way to Football of Hall of Fame. Then back to relative's house Friday night.

We will leave Saturday - around noon and drive straight home. Then Sunday we can relax/recuperate and watch football. I will probably start decorating our (fake) Christmas tree on Sunday.

I am getting too old for these kind of roadtrips - in my 20's I thought nothing of 12 hours in the car - it was an adventure....now I'm not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to seeing family.

just curious if anyone else is planning a roadtrip...

I am! All of DFiance's family lives in Mississippi (with the exception of his parents). So, Wednesday before Thanksgiving we're making the 12 hour trek down there. We'll leave at about 5:30 or 6am and get to his grandparents' home in time for dinner.

It'll be a full house.. my future in-laws and their 2 dogs, my fiance & I, DFi's grandparents, DFi's aunt and uncle, DFi's cousin and wife and baby (plus their bulldog) all under the same roof and sharing two showers.

We'll spend Thanksgiving eating and visiting with extended family that drops by. I've heard that DFi's uncle is bringing their 4-wheeler with them so I'm sure most of the afternoon will consist of the boys being stupid in the field behind the house. Friday we usually visit with more extended family and go out to dinner and do some shopping. Saturday is a lazy day around the house just visiting with each other, and then we go home Sunday.

Should be an interesting long weekend, for sure.

Well sort of...we leave on Wednesday evening to drive to DL. It's about 6 hrs but with traffic we are guessing it might be worse.
That's nothing tho, if we were heading to my families we would be driving 10 hrs minimum, probably much more considering we have to drive thru the Sierra's. As much as I want to be home for the holidays this year it's just not likely at all.....

We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.

We will be driving from Savannah to Detroit. 16 hours at least. We leave Tuesday when school lets out, stop overnight, then drive Wednesday almost all day and arrive at DH's mother's. Here's where it gets good. (stupid) We spend Thanksgiving with DH's family. Friday we spend about half the day, then get in the car to start driving home. We get home sometime on Saturday evening so we have Sunday to recuperate, plus we are avoiding driving on busy Sunday. Sound worth it?

Sorta counts. We leave on the Saturday the 28th for Disney. Which is also DH's bday. The in laws usually come down for Thanksgiving but this year we are meeting up in Disney for a post Thanksgiving trip.

We are taking our first LLLOONNNGGGG car trip--about 10 hours to NC to celebrate with friends! Sort of getting excited about it--the trip not the travel!

We drive every year from here (near D.C.) to my FIL's in Ohio.

The problem is that my birthday is Nov 26th. This year, it's on Thanksgiving, but usually it's a day before, after, etc. So I've spent almost every birthday for the past few years at my in-laws or in the car for 5-6 hours. I think I deserve a do-over birthday, but DH never agrees!

This year I'm driving to El Paso, & my daughter wants to come along. It's a 12-hour drive, so we'll leave early in the morning, and drive until we get there.

I was hoping to be able to go down to FL/Disney World since my school's basketball team is playing in the Old Spice Classic at the Wide World of Sports. Unfortunately it was just too expensive (oh yeah, and my mom would kill me if I was gone for Thanksgiving...).

Not a long roadtrip, but I'm going to my brother and sil's house over Thanksgiving. From NJ to NH usually takes about 6 or 7 hours depending on whether I drive straight through or stop to eat.

10 hours from Ohio to the Adirondack Mountains----Literally "Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's House we go!" We do it every year and end up spending a wonderful Thanksgiving in a cabin in the woods, usually with snow falling, holiday music playing, and Grandma (my mom) cooking up a big turkey while we all watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on TV.
