No ADR's, No Problemo!

Okay, on a whim, you decided to make a quickie pilgrimage to the World, and it's too late to make any ADR's. Upon arrival, no luck getting in anywhere without a reservation. What to do?

DW and I just got back from a week at VWL. While we had ADR's for Boma and Artist Point - and enjoyed both immensely, we had some great "alternative" meals. Now please note that we didn't have any kids with us on this trip, so a lot of this is probably not appropriate for families.

Night one - Dinner at Boma. First time and loved it!

Night two - closed MK, walked over to CR, had a drink at the Outer Rim, then headed over to WL and had drinks and appetizers at Territory Lounge - great flatbreads!

Night three - Roast beef and bleu cheese sandwich from Roaring Fork by the pool - excellent

Night four - dinner at Artist Point for DW's "second" 25th birthday. Again excellent! Our servor, Javier, was the best waiter we have ever had at WDW.

Night five - Pulled pork flat bread from Roaring Fork, various cheeses, crackers, hummice, pita bread, and wine (all from home) on the balcony of our villa.

Night six - leftover cheese, hummice, pita, etc., as well as some leftover tenderloin from AP, together with wine, on the beach at WL watching the MK fireworks.

While we obviously spent the majority of our time at Wl this time, we have used the same strategy at BC and BW as well. The point here being that there are a number of choices besides TS at WDW. Staking out a nice, quiet place to enjoy the simplest food can be fun, and economical. The pools are usually less crowded in the evening; the beaches are quiet too.

Don't overlook the lounges for some good appetizers. Unfortunately, Mizners at GF has dropped most of their apps. They used to have the best ones. Prior to this trip, it was our favorite place for a great glass (or two) of wine after a busy day at MK. Life goes on.

This is a great idea. I never make advanced arrangements for meals. When we arrive, I call the dining number and give them the restaurants we're interested in. They tell us when they have availability and we go. It's great! We are also all adults and I understand it's not so easy to be that flexible with kiddies in tow.
