EMH experience with no wrist band
A couple weeks ago, I attended Friday night's AK EMH. I went to the late (7:00, if I remember correctly) FoLK show, ate at Resturantusaurus, went on some rides, shopped in what few shops were open, and I realized something on the bus ride back to my hotel. Not once did I get asked for ID, room key, anything that said I was a Disney property guest. I could have been staying off-site for $50 a night and attended EMH. I asked others on my bus, and I did find that people who'd ridden EE were asked every time through the line. However, if you avoid that one ride (my stomach went whippy-whirly the one time I rode it, so that's it for me!), apparently evening EMH isn't a Disney resort guest perk. At least when they had Enights, if I remember, you had to buy tickets right at the on-site hotel to attend.

Typically all they do to check if you are a resort guest is check your ID before getting on rides. They used to use wrist bands but I guess they cut costs and not longer provide them. We had two teens in front of us who got upset when they heard they were asking for ID and asked why. I explained that it was late hours for resort guests only and they got worried and left the line. You can walk the park and spend your money if not staying on site but you are not supposed to be able to ride the rides.

The last two years they have checked our room key at every single ride for extra magic hours.

That's good to hear, because the night in AK, they didn't ask on any ride I went on, only on EE.

We only went to MK and Epcot, don't know about AK. They did ask for our hotel card at every attraction. At MK there was a line of CM's and DH asked what they were doing. They said clear the park of non-EMH visitors after the fireworks.

Even if they were. We had to show our key for every attraction. Kidding aside.

in one night at MK EMH. At some rides, BTMRR and HM we were checked every time at PoC not once in 5 rides. My son adopted the JC so most skippers knew us, so they did not check those who didn't know us did. On the Carpets I was watching people just walk up and asked the CM why he wasn't checking and was told he didn't see an issue with non-guests staying. I said I did and he just looked at me like I was an alien and walked away.
It is up to the CM at the entrance to do their job or not. And in all reality it doesn't matter one way or another to most of them

Really? This thread is bumming me out. We have always used the morning EMH (and love them!) but this time we are using evening EMH. And would like to enjoy the benefit. Also our friends are going and I suggested to them to stay on property so they could use the perks of EMH (we are going New Years week) Do you still see a benefit in using the EMH evening hours?

This past July DH and I went to MK for evening hours and I thought that the park was pretty crowded and wondered if folks were really guests or not. I know in the summer months there is a higher crowd level, but for what I was witnessing I thought it was more than what I had seen on previous evening hours (not to mention the numbers of people still out with crying small children who needed a bed ASAP at 1am) My opinion is that a good bit were not guests because at the rides there was only a 10 min. wait and they were DEF. looking at room keys. The only ride where we needed a fast pass was Peter Pan (of course) for that evening but Splash Mt and Thunder were no wait time. I hope the CMs do enforce that EMH is for guests, especially for rides.

1- Non-WDW resort guests CAN stay inside the PM EMH park during the PM EMH, but they are not supposed to be allowed to ride the attractions. That was true even back when they used the wristbands (which were a much better EMH-control system.) 2- That's why the CM's check the resort key-cards at the attraction queues but not anywhere else. |
