Fireworks cruises

SO I'm looking for some feedback on the Pirates N Pals, as well as Illuminations cruises.

Worth doing?

Also it's only me and DS12....so for Illuminations I would have to share a boat, right? Would the IPO at the GF help me find people to share with?

Just looking for any comments that will help me decide to do one or the other or both...Thanks!

We did the Illuminations cruise in March and had a great time. I booked the cruise for myself, DH and DD. We shared with a couple from Maryland and a family from Illinois. It was a wonderful time and it was great to meet some really nice people. I just posted the date of the cruise I had booked on these boards and was able to find people who wanted to share. We exchanged cell phone numbers through private messages and everything turned out perfectly. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

I haven't done the Pirates ones.

But for Illuminations, you don't have to share -- you would see about sharing if you didn't want to pay the whole price yourself. There's no requirement for sharing.

I don't believe the IPO would assist you in finding people to share with - not really in their best interest and too much liability for them too. Disney would rather have every family book their own boat!

Yeah, I think I'll splurge and see if we can get a boat to ourselves. What time should I call? Is it the same # to book ADRs? You can't book these online right?

UGH so many questions I know

Although the Illuminations cruise was wonderful, I couldn't justify paying over $150.00 per person for only two people to use the boat. We ended up having fun with the other Disney families we met.

We've done 2 cruises with just our family - actually one was just DH and I on our anniversary. A third we shared with another family we knew from TGM. I don't really like sharing with people I don't know, so that wouldn't really work for us. But it is quite extravagant.

I'm not sure if it's still the same price this year -- but last December, for the same price as the regular Illluminations pontoon cruise, we booked the Breathless (special boat) for a Christmas night cruise with our family of 4. It was awesome! It only seats 6 people I believe, though. That, to me, was worth the money.

You can see that boat here -

PS - call on your 90th day (or 90+10 just like ADRs) at 7 AM -- I'd start dialing before 7, just like the most popular dining reservations.

Good luck -- start dialing before 7 AM and just keep re-dialing until they open - that has been what has worked best for me (the message changes at 7 AM exactly).
