American Girl Doll Hair Studio - Short Haired Dolls

Hi everyone, I've seen lots of discussions here about AG dolls, so I hope someone can help me. I am buying DD her first AG doll for Christmas, the JLY doll with short red hair. DD is really interested in fixing hair and so I though the hair studio video would be good. However, I don't see any comments or pics of this being good for short haired dolls.

For anyone who has a short haired doll with no bangs...is this going to be a good purchase for them or will their hair be too short for the styles?

Thanks!

We have the hair studio dvd but I haven't watched it in a while. The doll with short red hair though has hair about the length of our Nellie, so not too short. We style Nellie's hair. It even gets partial side braids or little side ponytails every once in a while so I'd think it'd be possible that some of the syles would still work for you.

If you watch ebay you can usually find the new dvd along with a hair care kit or access in the $10 range. Of course, AG has free shipping thru today but the bonus of added goodies for the same price is always nice.

There's also a an AG Hair Studio book/dvd set you can find at borders, BJ's, and ebay of course, that includes a brush, bobby pins, hair clips, and elastics that typically costs $10-$15 - and there's a 40% off coupon at Borders this weekend IIRC. It's nice to see the styles on the video but great to have the photos/instructions in the book for reference when the dv is over and styling begins...

Thank you! I just bought the doll from the AG site using free shipping.

Amazon.com had the doll hair book / dvd / accessory kit for $13.50 and also the AG Doll School book which DD will love for $12 and change. So I got free shipping on those.

I also bought the iron bed that Target has for 18" dolls. Anyone have this who can comment on how their girls liked it and how it's held up? How about the little salon chair they have? I love the AG brand stuff, but I've got to cut corners where I can!

We've had three target salon chairs over the years. I love the way they go up and down like a real chair - or do on the versions we have anyway. All in all, I think it's a good value, better if you find them on sale. DD8 & DGD8 both play with theirs quite a bit on and off.

I've seen lots of them at yard sales this summer for a dollar or two so if you don't get it new for Christmas, you could probably save some money at a yard sale. The Target chair's plastic base has a tendancy of cracking right around the outside seam edge, and I wish it had the suction bottom to keep it in place while the dolls are having their hair styled though.

My DD has the Target bed and salon chair. She loves the bed and plays with it all the time.

The salon chair isn't played with so much. She said she doesn't like that it slips around alot and she likes to just stand the doll in front of her when she does her hair.
