What movies should we watch in preparation?
We're taking our boys, ages 6.5 and 3.5 to WDW for the first time in just over a month. What Disney movies should they watch between now and then in order to get the most out of the character interactions and rides?
They've seen some of the newer stuff (Cars, Bolt, Incredibles etc) and watch Disney occasionally (Mickey mouse Clubhouse type stuff) but what else should I introduce them to before we leave?

Oh there are quite a few....Great question by the way! Some that come to mind are: Monsters, INC, Toy Story series, Honey I shrunk...(Several inthat series - not my favorites but there is an attraction for that one), Bug's Life, PotC (they will get the ride without this, but it may be fun..I'd go with the first one as it's less scary, but maybe you want to preview it first. It does have walking skeletons. I haven't seen it in a while. The ride is not scary). Anything Winnie the Pooh (esp the half hour show called, "A very Blustery DAy"), Lion King, Nemo.
If you can get them to watch some princess stuff, consider: Little Mermaid, Snow White (gotta love the "Candy Caludron" candy shop in DTD!), Cinderella (that one may be a stretch), Sleeping Beauty (So they understand the dragon in Fantasmic), Beauty and BEast. Those are theones off the top of my head, but there is more. Last edited by mickeyluv'r; 10-30-2009 at 06:56 PM. |

How about Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Monsters Inc, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Peter Pan? Before anyone scoffs at the prospect of boys watching the "princess" movies ... I have two boys, ages 14.5 and 6.5. I know I'm extremely fortunate to have a teen who's still into his family, let alone one who enjoys watching Disney movies for the sake of being Disney movies. Both of my boys have enjoyed all of the more traditional movies, princessy or not.
All of the above mentioned movies are represented at the World, so I think they'd be great for your little ones to watch. |

So far I've had no luck in getting DS6.5 to watch 'girl movies'. I watched Cinderella the other day hoping he'd sit and watch and he left the room.
![]() He does have some mad Ariel love, though. He wanted to be a mermaid when he was 3. ![]() These are great suggestions. I never would have thought of the Sleeping Beauty/Fantasmic connection... And I'd forgotten about 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids'. Keep 'em coming!

Stitch. Stitch. More Stitch. The folks at Disney are trying very hard to get rid of Mickey and replace him with Stitch. So watch all the Stitch you can.
Nemo and more Nemo. He's their second favorite. Just can't be enough Nemo. |

They can meet the Power Rangers at MGM, too. At least they could last time we were there. They seemed to be a big hit with the little kids. That's younger than my kids, so I'm not an expert on that. Just thought I'd add it, though.

I would go with a lot of the classics like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo. Also check out Toy Story, Cars, Lilo & Stitch, The Incredibles, and Aladdin. You may also want to track down some Disney classic cartoons with Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy & Pluto.

Great list, Robo. The only additional one I could think of is Raiders of the Lost Ark (for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show) -- but it probably doesn't qualify as a Disney movie. OP -- do your kids have time to watch one movie a day for the next 40 days?

Good question, you should check out some of the rides you want ride and watch the movies that correspond.
My DGF and I are trying to watch all the Disney movies that are highlighted in yellow on this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._feature_films) and also some of the ones that aren't. Plus some non-Disney like Star Wars (for Star Tours) and Indiana Jones (for the stunt show).
