Resale purchase timeline
For those that have purchased DVC through resale, I think it would be helpful to newbies if they knew what others have experienced regarding a time line throughout the process. Here is my time line thus far and I will update it in the future. Would others please do the same if they have recently purchased DVC through resale? (Disney direct would be much different) I know there can be variables that will make a difference but it sure helps others to have a general idea of what to expect. Thanks.
Realtor - Kinn & Jaki @ ResalesDVC.com Title Co - Timeshare Title & More, LLC 9/20/09 - Made offer via email 9/21/09 - Rec'd telephone call that offer was accepted 9/22/09 - Rec'd purchase documents & instructions via email 9/23/09 - Faxed signed documents to realtor; FedEx deposit to title company 9/24/09 - Rec'd email from title company that they have deposit 10/17/09 - Rec'd telephone call (Saturday) from Jaki saying we passed ROFR; title company to verify estoppel info; should take about 10 business days 10/30/09 - Rec'd closing documents from title company (10 business days!) 10/30/09 - FedEx'd final payment and signed closing documents to title company 11/11/09 - Rec'd notice from title company that seller is sending signed closing documents 11/17/09 - Rec'd notice from title company that transaction is closed and request forwarded to DVC to transfer deed 11/20/09 - Called Mbr Svcs and we are in the system with all points available. Made reservations for May, 2010! WOOHOO!! 60 days from offer to member - not bad, not bad at all!! 11/30/09 - Received DVC membership card from Disney

We also just purchased through Jaki and Kinn and when I received the closing papers on Tuesday I asked how long before the points are in my account and she said 6 days after they receive your check.

I think posting that it takes 45 - 60 days is better than posting specifics. There are so many variables affecting the process that any one of the steps being delayed could drastically change things.
Everything from someone being on vacation, time of year, and how many other sales are in process can cause delays. Bill

Bill is right - every resale is different. In my particular case the offer was made and accepted in early September, and the sale hasn't closed yet - one week after the contract closing date, two weeks after receiving my final payment. In my case I believe the sellers have dragged their feet on the final paperwork, and I hope to hear that we've finally closed early next week (approx 60 days). Jaki & Kinn have responded to every question I have asked for status updates, but I wish they were more proactive. I just have to keep reminding myself that I'm saving money over a purchase direct from Disney, and in another few days it won't matter how long the process took.

![]() We've used the Timeshare Store for all three of our resale purchases. And, I'm sure we'll use them again.

We have had a very speedy turn around so far.
10/5- made offer/offer accepted/received contracts 10/6- mailed contracts and deposit 10/6-contracts sent to Dis for ROFR 10/7-received preliminary closing docs from Title Company 10/28-Disney Waived ROFR 10/29-received closing docs 10/30-Sent payment and closing docs back Just heard that seller has an appointment on 11/4 to get contracts notorized and will Fed ex for Friday 11/6 delivery. So, we should close 11/6. If all goes as planned, we were 31 days from offer to close. Not bad!!! |

We began the process by placing a bid on September 16, and our final payment/papers were delivered on October 28th. We're waiting to see those points in our account. It shouldn't be much longer. We want to book a treehouse in November 2010, so there's time for it to happen as far as that's concerned.

There is no denying that a multitude of outside influences will alter the timeline for purchase of a contract bought through resale and if anyone wants to contribute with a general timeframe, then that is great. Some of us are bean-counters, detail dilettantes or type A personalities and want the minutiae. Whichever anyone wants to contribute will be appreciated.

Timeline updated in OP. Anyone know how long it will take for DVC to put us in the system?

We just closed on a resale contract on 10/20/09. The new contract appeared on the Disney system on 10/23/09, but the points were not posted until two days later (10/25/09). We made a reservation using those points on that day. BTW, we were already DVC members. Good luck!!

We made our offer on 9/16, passed ROFR on 10/12, and the contract closed yesterday 11/17 (Happy Birthday DH!). Now, today 11/18, the contract is listed on the member site, but the points haven't really been added. The total is correct, 1030, but for each year, even up to 2012 the number given is 930 points to use.
Well, what we learn from this is that the contract WAS added to our existing account, which is good, exactly what we wanted. I'll post when the points actually show up! Bobbi
