What time do little kids trick or treat when Halloween is on a Saturday?

My kids are waaay past trick or treat age but I still give out candy. I'm use to kids coming after school or early evening.
What do you do when Halloween is on a Saturday?

Around here, we start ToT when it gets dark. It doesn't matter WHAT night of the week it is.....We wait for dark. This week, "dark" is about 6:30.

I was just thinking about it this morning. It's supposed to get more and more rainy as the day goes on. i don't plan on being home in the afternoon, so I hope the kids aren't going to come in the afternoon to try to avoid the rain. I really want to give out lots of candy but I just won't be there to do it until normal trick or treating time.

We wait for dark and then typically turn our light off around 9:30 or 10.

Same here. The only thing that really changes when Halloween is on a Friday or Saturday is how late kids are out.

According to the listing in our paper, the City of Ft Wayne's official hours of TOT are 6pm to 8pm.

Last nights edition had all of the larger citys in the surronding area's official TOT hours listed. There were a couple of 5:30 starts, but most were 6:00 starts.

It wasn't until I joined the DIS that I realized some towns had such a thing as "official" Halloween/ToT hours. I'd never heard of ToT-ing happening on any other day EXCEPT Halloween, just as Christmas happens on Dec. 25 and Valentine's Day is Feb. 14. You wait until dark on Halloween night and you head out. When it gets dim, the kids come out of their houses like a hoard of roaches. It's like a mass exodus.

The UNofficial rule here is that if the lights in the house and the porch light are on, you can ToT that house. If the lights are off, keep walking. Very few people seem to have a problem with it.

Of course, it being Texas, maybe people have the good sense not to pester someone late at night by ringing their doorbell when their lights are off and they clearly want to be left alone........

Everywhere I've ever lived trick or treating starts at dark. It'll probably start a bit before then this year since the time change is so late this month. But after hearing the kids asking "can we go now" 8000 times, I can't blame parents for letting them loose a bit early.

It's funny to me to see how many places have scheduled hours for trick or treating. Not to mention the places that make it on whatever day they want!

Our nieghborhood is doing a little party in the cul-de-sac at 5pm (with food, drink, and parade). Then the kids will go from house to house.

We usually expect people from 5-8.

I have also never lived somewhere where Halloween was on a different day or hours were dictated by the town. It's always been Halloween night at whatever time you want to start.

We have set city hours here on a set day. Big cities kind of do that for safety reasons I'm kind of glad they don't start at dark now because thanks to the silly wait to fall back an hour it doesn't get dark until closer to bedtime for the really little ones.
