Any Idea on Pricing for the Dream?

I can imagine that the inaugural will be quite high, but what about the rest of the year. Do you think it will be comparable to 2010? What do you think the premium will be for the first year.

I am starting to stress about costs and wanted to know just how hard I have to stress.

Gold and Plat can reserve with a 400 dollar per person deposit paid pretty much at booking and only one cabin per CC member, for the maiden voyage. I haven't seen any pricing yet.

Hey Poohs - I'm doing a DCL house party on 11/14, 1pm. PM me if you would like to come. Us desert dwellers need to stick together.

Gold and Plat CC members should be on Nov 2, general bookings open on Nov 9th.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/sh...s/ships/dream/

That is all it says. Pricing won't be shown until the 9th, if they do it the same way they did the Wonder itineraries.

I'm hoping that Platinum and Gold CC members who book on the 2nd will share the pricing info they got here on the DIS, just the way they did when the Wonder and Magic opened up bookings a month ago. That was really helpful in terms of knowing what to expect...

I think you are correct, DCL did not release any price information before the magic and Wonder release in late September, it was-only on the 'full' release for everyone they posted information.

The only reference point was these boards and the many nice people who took time to post this information for the assistance of others.

Now apart from the first sailing, I personally think the best thing is to hold back. DCL will set the price high, and see if there is takers at thoose inflated prices, now if demand saps it up they obtain greater income.

If demand doesnt match up they will have to adjust prices downward.

We have seen offers this year, when DCL had two ships full time in the Caribbean, we know when the Magic is out of the Caribbean prices are higher and stay higher, less others, ( reference point 2006 and 2009).

The Magic is in Europe for summer 2011, the Wonder in Alaska, using the small sample size of peoples activity from these boards, on posts and cruise meets threads, we can assume take up for Alaska is very good, the Med would appear to be slow, ( but these are on sale in Europe and thoose people book later, say three months pre cruise and would not know about these boards). So will Alaska cruisers also book on the DREAM? Have people held back? Will people hold back, as the ports of call are the same as the Wonders current 3/4 night trips?

Well we do not know, Currently on the Bahamas run the ports are the destination, not the ship, with the Dream the ship is the destination and the ports matter less. But will people book 3/4 night cruises?

So many variables, with three ships and capacity in 2011, 3.5 times the current capacity we do not know the overall effect.

After the ''I want to be first' cruisers are through, prices will fall, how quickly is up to the public in when we book.

Personally I do not need to be first on this ship, or first to have a Iphone, or Windows 7, so I will wait till the price falls.

Other cruiselines also have many new ships will great facilites, it will become a buyers market, how quick, cant say, but as I opened, if DCL set them high they can reduce them, if they set the prices low at first, they will not get that money back.

I completely agree with that. I think the ship will do well in the summer of 2011, or more specifically as soon as the Magic leaves Florida for Europe and the Dream is the only option. I also think the early sailings and spring/Easter break will do well. I'm guessing price points for those sailings will be particularly high, and the rest will be more in line with Wonder regular sailings, with an uptick for the newness of the Dream. Hopefully we will start to figure it out next Monday...

When will spring break be in 2011?

I know Easter is very late (something like 24 April) so i imagine many schools will have spring break earlier. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I'm thinking of booking B2B's on the Dream for the first week in April so i can spend my b'day on Castaway Cay.

Didn't realize how late Easter was in 2011. That will spread out the busy season, I guess. My kids always have spring break in late March, either the last two weeks of March or the last week of March and first week of April, regardless of where Easter falls.

So that means they will probably be charging holiday rates from March 1 through the end of April.

We are thinking about sailing the Dream in the Fall of 2011. I'm thinking pricing will have settled down a bit since the Magic should be back.

Hmm, DH wants B2Bs on the Dream. Maybe Easter would be a good time since I'm already taking DD out of school for two weeks in the fall of next year. I can't believe I'm planning a vacation 18 months away. Only the crazy Disney fans like us do that.

I want to be first and proud of it!!! Nothing wrong with wanting to experience this fantastic new ship as soon as possible as there is nothing wrong with wanting to wait.

Wanting to be on the MV has nothing to do with "status" or "elitism" or bragging rights....for me it has to do with wanting to experience another incredible milestone in DCL's history on a fantastic new product as soon as I can. I don't need to be in a suite, or even a balcony cabin...a simple O/V is fine for me!!!

And for those of us that are not able to be on the MV, please post your experiences daily. Maybe we should take up a fund so you can pay the internet usage fees so we can get real-time reports.

Just to confirm, when I posted about 'I want to be first' cruisers going through, it was just intended as a description, and saying I personally do not have an inkling to be part of that, I did not post or intend this statement to have anything to do with "status" or "elitism" or bragging rights.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be first, but the context of my post was to do with pricing and it will fall, after the first cruisers are through.

I am sure the first cruise on the DREAM will be a fantastic experience for thoose lucky enough to be on board, but as always they will pay a premium for that, the same as you do if you get Windows 7, or Iphone at midnight on the day of release.
