H1N1 is cutting our vacation short

We have had plans to go to WDW Dec 5-13 since April. Then, this past week, I was confirmed with having H1N1 and was out a week and then, on Monday, my 9 yr. old came down with it, meaning I was out of work for 2 weeks. Thankfully, his case was not as severe due to putting him on Tamiflu as soon as I was diagnosed. My 6 yr. old got a cough, but never anything else. Neither did my dh. They were on Tamiflu too.

Anyway, we decided since I was missing 2 weeks of a paycheck that we would shave a few days off our our trip. Rather than checking out on the 13th, we're going to check out on the 10th. It's basically 2 days less in the parks and in reality, it's really only one day less because we were already planning on spending the 11th with family in the Orlando area. It really works out for us that my sister lives in the Orlando area too. She and her dh are going to stay at the resort with us. Those last three nights of our vacation we're just going to stay at their house. Frankly, I'm sure 6 days at wdw will be enough.

You know what's funny? I was worried telling the kids -- didn't want to disappoint them and they were not in the least bit disappointed. In fact, they were happy that they were going to get to go to their aunt and uncle's house and visit their dogs (they have two great pyrenese) It's made me wonder if I've over thought and over planned this entire trip.

It was a substantial savings cutting off the three days of rack rate rooms and we still got to keep our free dining. Overall, I think it was a good choice.

Nice to see you and your kids have a positive attitude about it all.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

OT, but I just wanted to say I have a Great Pyrenese and I love her so much! She's my 130-pound lapdog. She's as happy as Elmo, but moves like Snuffleupagus, LOL!

Sorry to hear that you had to cut your trip short, but I'm glad that your kids are okay with it. Have a safe and HEALTHY trip!

Have you seen that Ceasar dog food commercial with all the big white dogs that want to be a little white dog so they can eat the food too? There is a Pyrenese on a lady's lap and we always laugh so hard when we see that because that is just how my sister's dogs are too. They think they are lap dogs for sure!

You know what, I have to say that we are really relieved that we will be going to wdw and not getting swine flu. Getting sick while there and having to sit in the hotel room the entire time has been one of my worst fears this entire year.

You're too cute! I love the description of your dog!

To the OP, I am sorry to hear that your trip is cut short. You have a great attitude. Happiness is what you make it!!

I am home today with my son. I picked him up at school yesterday with a fever of 102.9. He's doing well on Motrin and Tylenol so far. Talked with the doctor last night and she said they have been seeing so much swine flu, they stopped testing. I'm hoping this is it, since we go to WDW Nov. 30th. I am praying we get the immunities b/f we go!!
