Grown Ups Only - CRT worth it?
I'm a 43 year old girlie-girl going to WDW with just my mom, no kids. I understand most people feel the food at CRT is marginal, and dining in the castle is what you pay for. Neither of us are particularly interested in visiting with princesses, but we do appreciate architecture and decor very much. Is the architecture and decor something that will thrill us?
We have a lunch ADR that I was initially thrilled to get, but now I'm wondering....since it is so pricey for marginal food, is the atmosphere worth it? Maybe I should give it up and allow a young girl and her parent to have that thrill? Any thoughts? |

My husband and I went in January. We are two thirty-somethings with no kids. We, however, enjoy the character experience. The food was okay to good - but not great. We had a lovely table for two overlooking Fantasyland.
Would we do it again for the price (we were actually on the DxDDP)? Probably not. But, it was a great thing to experience once and we definitely do not regret doing it. If you have always wanted to do it, then by all means do it to have the experience. There is nothing like eating in the castle at the happiest place on earth. If you have any doubts about it being worth it or that you might regret, then I say skip it. |

My husband and I went in 1996 and on a whim ate dinner there (that was when you could make reservations that day!). We loved it. The food was good but the atmosphere was incredible. Being called "sire" and "princess" is something we still talk about. The details in the table setting were incredible. Back then there were no characters planned but Cinderella did happen to walk around once.
Now we're taking our 4 year old there and we're eating at CRT for his 5th birthday dinner. |

You should absolutely go. Last March three of us 40 something girls had dinner there and they both said it was their favorite meal. I don't care how old you are-when the fairy godmother calls you "princess", by golly you feel like a princess!
And...the food isn't that bad!

I'll disagree here. The food is marginal, if you aren't really into the princesses and don't have kids I don't see the appeal at all. I'm not knocking it, it was my daughters favorite part of our visit, but without her I would have been bored stiff.

If your both into the whole Disney thing then I think it is something you have to do once.
I've done it (before the princess craze) and it was nice. If you go to Disney and skip it you may regret it later. My parents do it every year and enjoy it, but they are on the "free" DDP. I would not do it again, but I'm glad i did it once. If they get rid of the characters and improve the food I will go back. BTW, I think most of the food in Disney World is marginal in relation to the price these days.

My DH and I used to end each trip with lunch here before it turned into a character meal. I really liked the food, and the ambiance...we also went there on the trip where we got engaged, and they did a whole "thing" with the decorated table, and they gave us a pair of champange flutes which we used at our wedding. Now that we A) have a son, B) ADRs are so hard to come by, and C) DH is not a fan of character meals in general, we haven't been back. My DS is all boy, but he does like pretty girls so I think he might enjoy the experience, but we're in no rush to try to get in there. I do miss Major Domo's pie though....

Yes go. We had lunch and I thought the food was good. The architechture in the room was neat (I spent about 5 minutes with the camera filming).
Alyssa, I see you live in Stoughton. I used to live in the appartments on Britton Ave near the intersection of Central & Washington shortly after I graduated from college. Wow, brings back memories.
