I've seen several recommendation about taking a cab from WL to CR or MK for a pre-opening ADR. Are the cabs usually found waiting or do you need to call for one?

What is the best way to get to Whispering Canyon (lunch) from MK and how long does it take?

Thanks

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that this trip will allow you to remember all of the wonderful times your had with your mother and enjoy this trip in her memory. Again, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.
That's very kind of you, thank you. I appreciate it very much. My mom is always in my thoughts and I know she will be even more so on vacation since WDW was one of her favorite places. I'm also looking forward to making to memories with my own children.

Would love to see more resort pictures to get me more in the Disney spirit, though!

My mom and I took a trip right after my Dad passed away last summer, though it was very emotional with all the memories of Dad popping up, it was very therapeutic. I hope you're vacation is wonderful!!

We never used the bus, though the travel time is fastest that way. The boat travel time (not including wait) is about 10 min between MK and WL, but before 3pm I believe the boat stops at FW first, making the trip longer.
See page 1 for details. Basically the rule of thumb is that the bus is fastest if things are running smoothly, but the boat is more punctual and a nicer ride.

I am so sorry for your loss I hope you and your family have a magical time, and I am sure your mom will be watching over all of you and sharing in your joy. This is our first trip to Disney, but I am sure that you could find something, big or small, to perhaps do in her honor. Maybe make a special wish at a wishing fountain?

I love looking at all the pictures as well! We aren't going until April, so make sure and take lots of pictures to bring back here

My Dad and I travelled to Disneyworld the Christmas after my Mom passed in 1989. Dad passed this past Summer. We are here now and it is very theraputic. Getting to share this pl e with our 5 yr old for the first time and remembering my time back in 72 with both my parents is bittersweet but also comforting. I am sorry for you loss and wish you well --->

Tiggerfan, we stayed at the WL in December. There are 2 boat ferries - the red flag route and the blue flag route. One of them makes a direct trip between WL and MK, the other makes stops at the Contemporary and Ft Wilderness before the lodge. The time to get to the WL from MK by bus or boat is about the same if I remember correctly. We never waited long for either boat or bus, although the boat loading dock is easier to get to (right outside the exit of MK) and you have to walk a little farther to the bus loading zone.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I appreciate you posting your point of view when you went with you mom. I'm sure the trip was rough at times, but knowing you have those memories with your dad are probably priceless.

I will definitely check out those links! Thanks so much!

Thank you both! I appreciate all the wonderful posters on Dis.

While a part of me is not really looking forward to the trip a bigger part of me remembers the wonderful times there with my mom and I'm looking forward to going back and seeing her face in my mind with a large grin that was only reserved for Disney. This was one place that I knew for sure that my mom was truly happy.

Learning that others have traveled after losing a loved one and finding that it was therapeutic is giving me hope. My mom was not only my one and only parent, but she was also my friend. I plan on going back to Disney with an open mind and open heart.

Thank you all again. And as far as honoring my mom, you bet! My mom "claimed" the terra cotta army in the China pavilion in the World Showcase. If they are still there, I'll take a picture for her. And I will definitely take pictures of the WL to share with you all.

studio

Hello everyone,
I am currently booked at the WL in a woods view room for our upcoming trip. I am thinking of switching to a studio room in the villas but I cant seem to find any recent pics, can anyone help? I checked on allears but the photos seem really dated.

HunnyJar - So sorry for your loss. I hope you have a wonderful trip, and are able to remember all the wonderful times you had with your mom.

WooHoo - Just booked our 1st stay at the WL!! I'm so excited!! From all the pictures, I think this might end up being our favorite yet (we've stayed at Contemporary and the Poly). I can't wait until April gets here!

I love these boards.

We had a standard view booked for 8/1 to 8/14. Now with the extension of the %off rates until 8/14 [instead of 6/2] we were able to upgrade and still save $$.

We now have Courtyard with Bunk Beds booked for our vacation.

We were blessed with an upgrade in 2006 to Courtyard w/bunk beds and in 2008 we paid for the courtyard and were given the EXACT same room with bunk beds.

I'm so glad we will have the bunk beds again with boys.

Where did you find they extended the % off until August? I'm booked for the 15th and would change if the price is right.

Thanks
