Warm meals that you make...
Since I am not a great cook, I am looking for some new ideas...
I want to make chili ( I already do I just want to see your versions) I want to learn how to make chicken and dumplings... And any other "warm" meals you can think of....

I'm a big beef stew fan, it just screams winter to me. I use the McCormick seasoning packet, it's simple and yummy as all get out. I throw everything in the crockpot, set it on low, and leave it alone for 8 hours. It makes way more than the two of us can eat at one sitting, so we put it into single serve containers, freeze it, and DH takes it to work to eat for lunch!

I do pot roast in the winter - just toss meat, veggies into crock pot, cover with lipton onion soup mix and cream of mushroom soup...so easy

I love my own baked macaroni and cheese..
Basically, just cook the elbows and drain. Shred your cheese (I like the white Sharp) You will also need bread crumbs and milk.. Put a thin layer of elbows in the bottom of an ovenproof bowl. Then some cheese.. Another layer of elbows.. Continue like this until the last layer on top is cheese.. Sprinkle a nice layer of bread crumbs on top.. Pour a little milk over the whole thing - I use about 1/3 of a cup or less. Cover with aluminum foil.. Pop it in a hot oven - I do 400 to 425 degrees.. Check after a half hour or so to see if the cheese has melted.. (Dig in a little with a spoon..) Remove the foil.. Turn on the broiler and broil 5 minutes or less - just till the top is a little brown.. Yummy!! For variation, you could include browned hamburger within the layers and/or diced canned tomatoes..

I just learned an EASY chicken and dumpling recipe a few months ago!
Pour a large container of veggie or chicken stock into a pot. Add salt/ pepper. Cut up chicken breasts, put into pot. Poach chicken (I add celery and carrots, the person I learned from does not). When chicken is cooked, open up a can of biscuits (Pillsbury, or any brand). Place biscuits into the pot...they will float on top. Put in enough biscuits to cover the top of the pot (I like to cut the biscuits into smaller pieces, but not necessary.) Once biscuits are halfway "done" (different color and squishy ), turn them over with a spoon or spatula. Let them cook until they take on the consistency of dumplings. At this point, you can be done! Or, take out the dumplings and place in a bowl, and make more in the same way. When finished making dumplings, put all dumplings back into pot, and enjoy! We loooove this! : )

This is a recipe my DH makes for chicken and dumplings that he enjoys. It uses a slow cooker and is very easy.
Just about anything you make in a slow cooker I think is a warm meal. The crockpot lady has a ton of recipes with reviews. Soup is my favorite warm meal. Pair it with a crusty bread. I made this tortilla soup recipe recently that I really enjoyed and it is also easy to make.
