Raddison Blu @ Golf Disney anyone stayed?

Hi

A friend of mine is hoping to book this hotel for New Year (I've mentioned to her about how crazy it is at New Year but she's fairly keen to go!). It will be her first time to DLRP. She says she's looked about and this is the best hotel/price etc.

Anyone stayed here and travelled into to the parks each day? Presume there is a shuttle bus? It looks a lovely hotel but is it a good one for just using as a base to visit DLRP. I said I'd ask on here for her.

I'm not sure if she looked at the Dream Castle - didn't want to ask too many questions but she said the 'only one she could get was the Radisson' so perhaps the others are full - I know NY is crazy so it could well be....

Thanks.

Anyone able to help please? She is about to book I think. The only snag I could see was that the shuttle bus from the hotel stops at 8 pm - wondering if it will do this even at NY as it could be tricky getting back to the hotel!

NY hotel is staggering distance to park

As for Radisson, looks a top hotel, but outwith walking distance. A no from me, and if last shuttle bus is full going back at night, then what?

In terms of hotel quality, the Radisson is far better than most of the Disney hotels and all of the other partner hotels. It is truly a quality place to stay. However, because of the nature of the people who stay at Radisson and MArriott, the transport links really are not great unless you have your car, take a public bus or use a cab (a challenge on New Year Eve unless prebooked). Also, the crowds at NY are the very worst.

I would not recommend a newbie goes at the NEw Year, not at all.

Dave - I totally agree with you and tried to tell her so without being 'a know it all' - you know how it is She is going with her DD (who will be not long turned 5), her DH and her Mother. I'm really hoping they have a great time but I suspect from the views expressed on here about NY, that it may not be so

I also said that even if she stayed in the cheapest Disney hotel it would probably be better because a) she could walk if buses full etc and really needed to b) would get EMH which will be a must! But she's going for the Radisson, obviously her choice and I'm not sure of costs etc so can't really comment on that....

I did email her a link to a thread about NYE that someone posted a few weeks back to give her an idea of the views expressed.....

I'll let her know about the hotel though - thanks for the replies I just really hope they do have a great time anyway - they are a lovely family so here's hoping
