please tell me about rose and crown re: illuminations

I would like to take mom to Rose and Crown for her bday dinner because she loves illuminations more than anything else at wdw and I was hoping we'd be able to view it from there - is that possible? Are there areas inside with good views? Can I request window seat? Do I need to? Is audio piped into the restaurant? Anything else I should know?

1st time: We got an ADR for 7:10, requested an outside seat and offered to wait for it. Watched Illuminations and criiiiiiiiiiieeed it was so great! Scale of 1 - 10 = 20

2nd time: We got an ADR for 7:20, requested outside, told none. Ate a nice meal and the server boxed up our leftovers and took care of our bill in time to get our "Rose and Crown standing area" view of Illuminations. Scale of 1 - 10 = 6 (only because of alread having the magical experience before - was a good lesson in moderating expectations and enjoying what we got

They won't take requests for the patio seats, nor will they allow you to wait for them. The demand is too high. They will allow diners seated inside to go out onto the patio for the show.

The official line is you get the seat you get. However we went in May had a ressie for 7:20 pm. I asked the girl at the check in if we could sit outside. She told me you get what you get. She asked if I could hold on a second though. She went and talked with a waitress, came back and said don't check in right now come back in 15 minutes. We came back and were seated in the corner table behind Rose & Crown and had perfect unobstructed views for the show. My experience is that Disney would love to accomodate every request but just can't. Having said that it never hurts to ask. I find CM's will do something for you if they can.

We have done this on two trips now. Once in 05 and then in 08.

We were able to get patio both times.

We showed up early and asked nicely and were very patient. Both times that worked, but we also know that one day it just might not be possible for us. We are once again hoping to do this for our January trip! Fingers crossed!

Good luck to you. It never hurts to ask!
