Early December sold out=crowded?
Hi, my wife and I were considering taking a quick trip without the kids in early December. Everything that you read says that one of (if not the) least crowded time of year to go. I know it is a little short notice, but everything is sold out for Dec-2-6th. except for Saratoga. Does that mean that the parks will be packed too? Or is it the case that points are at the cheapest so members fill up the DVC, but the parks are still fairly quite?
We just came back with our kids from Disneyland which was a zoo. Would like a little more of a quite time or we would just skip out. Robert

early december has been picking up the last few years, but it's still a relatively low time overall since most kids are still in school.
but for DVC owners: low point costs + decent weather + stunning holiday decorations = high demand period. (IMO if the economy weren't so crummy, even SSR would be booked solid.)

Disney does a good job of turning "slow" periods into busy periods. One good indication of expected crowd levels is to look at the park hours. If Disney expects a crowd they will extend the hours, if not, things will close early.

The non-DVC resorts are filling up quickly also since Disney extended some good discounts for that time. The discounts are enticing those who would normally stay off site to consider staying on site. Resort/Hotel occupancy in the Orlando area is down by a significant percentage. I don't expect the parks to be overly crowded until the week before Christmas. This time is a good example of why we say popular times for DVC are not necessarily the same as busy times for the parks.
