Anyone at GF right now (Mon. 10/26) who can give a lobby rehab update?

Is anyone at the GF right now that can check in with an update on how the new lobby floor is coming along? I'm curious if the white barricades are still up, etc. Any other rehabs going on in the lobby/main lodge? Any large cranes outside the main lodge?

If you can post pics, that would be superb.

THANKS SO MUCH!!

Hi Everyone,

No one on site responded to this as of Tuesday, so I called the GF directly. I first called IPO and the CM told me "everthing should be completed by the holidays". That wasn't specific enough for me. I asked for the manager of the GF and was connected with the administrative office. The nice CM there told me that the rehabs will continue into January. When I asked specifically about the lobby floor, she said that, yes, it could go into January. I said "I'm finding it hard to picture the Gingerbread House in the lobby with white barriers blocking off sections" and asked her again if she was sure it would continue through the holidays and she said it could. I asked her if there were any plans for exterior work to be done on the Main Lodge and she said they haven't told them about that but it could happen if they decided work needed to be completed on the Main Lodge.

So, one CM said "should be completed by the holidays" and the admin. office said it would continue into January. I guess only time will tell......

We ate breakfast at the GF Friday and there were white barriers up on two sides. There was a crane up and scaffolding around the lobby floor. It was still pretty inside, but it did distract from the beauty if it all.

They must mean the Christmas 2010 holidays!

Thank-you for the information.

This review says there's construction everywhere!

I am there now and they are starting work on the tea room. The floor looks lovely.

I think the best advice is to wait and see what it's like when you get there. I made *numerous* phonecalls before my trip in August and got a completely different answer every single time I called.
The good news is that the beauty of the resort makes up for the work and you have to just work on seeing the work, and then looking the other way.

We were there last weekend and the construction didn't seem very noticeable to me. I mean you could see it, but it wasn't distracting.

I have a strong feeling that the construction will be done before the xmas tree and gingerbread house go up in the lobby. I think it would make sense to not have construction going on when the flow of traffic would be higher during the holidays

Thank you OP for posting this question.

I am freaking out and very worried about the construction going on in the lobby! You see we will be there in 10 days and will be having our vow renewal there! The ceremony will be at the wedding pavilion, and the reception at the white hall room and patio(at the GF convention center). But, we will have most of our pictures before the ceremony taken in the GF lobby. So any cranes, scaffolding, white barricades are really going to put a damper on my plans! Not to mention we will be staying there for a week with other relatives! I have long dreamed of the day I get to wear a wedding gown and have pictures taken on the stairs in the GF lobby!

Could you possibly please, please post pictures of the lobby!

Ack, this is not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping they were really pushing to get this done before the holidays but hearing this makes me fear that they may put some projects on hold during the holiday traffic and start up again in January -- just in time for our visit.
