I'm so stinkin' nervous about our upcoming trip

I was so looking forward to our first stay at the GF in a month, but every day I come on these boards and fine some reason why I don't want to go anymore.

With all the discounts I feel it is going to be packed. Then I figured the parade taping would be the 4th and 5th of December. Now its the 3rd and 4th. Should I change my MK dates or keep it and take my chances?

Now I find out the dreaded brazilian tour groups will be there? That is the proverbial straw. I don't want my family and I to deal with these groups. I can't stand it. I am so nervous about it, I can't even be excited anymore.

I know I should just be thankful we are going. But after all the planning and money going into this trip, it seems one thing after another keep coming up. Seriously, I wish we could cancel and go somewhere else.

It's all about perspective!

I'd love to be there at that time. I'd love to have a chance to watch the parade being filmed. I'd love to see Disney in all its Christmas glory - - especially the GF - and you get to STAY there! Wow. So lucky!!!!

And even with the deals - - you're still there. So if it is busy??? You might wait a little longer or you might not. But you're THERE!

You're not stuck at home in the snow like I will be!!!!

Hope you can change your mind around so that you can enjoy the trip!!!

I know I have to go with a positive attitude. There are so many people on here cancelling their trips because of finances and other reasons. I know I should be thankful.

When I read these kinds of posts on here like this that other people write, I get so mad and think quit whining and be happy you're going , and here I am posting one.

I'll be there the same time at the GF. Why do you think the parade taping is the 3rd & 4th? If it is, can you go to MK on the 5th? Since the 3rd & 4th aren't on the weekend, I still don't think it will be as crowded. We were there 2 years ago when the taping was that Saturday and MK was crazy. You couldn't even move in Fantasyland. I think if the taping is not on the weekend, it might not be as bad.

Also, why do you think the Brazilian groups will be there? I know I saw some recent posts about them, but our trips are a month away so a lot can change.

I am having some of the same feelings as you. We have gone the week after Thanksgiving several times and each time the crowds are bigger. I guess the secret is out. As PPs said though, we will be at DISNEY, so we'll have a good time and make the best of it. I hope you can relax and get excited again. I'm going to try to.

The brazillons are always there and in droves. I say if you see them heading to the ride you were going to change your plans and come back to it. They have a right to be there but they do not have a right to invade other peoples space and that they do. They are the rudest people in the parks. They rent wheelchairs just to get in first. I saw them last year popping wheelies, running with the chairs The guy who was in it when we were in line is now the pusher of another guy. Running mind you. This is where Disney needs to have cm's watching out on the abuse of the wheelchair rentals and being able to head the lines. Otherwise we go this time every year well 3 yeas this year. We stay away from MK on Tape day. We look at it this way if we are going to be there 9 days then surly we can go other days and avoid weekend crowds. You will never find a perfect trip with perfect crowds and perfect weather so just go with a good attitude and pretend your family is the only one there .

ethnocentristic much? Yes, I've been to MK and Universal when there were many Brazilian tour groups there. They were definitely not the rudest people I encountered at either park. Try speaking to them like they are human. Who knows? You might learn something. Oh, and the crack about not having the right to get in your space-well, personal space is a cultural thing, and in the Latin American countries, personal space is very close. They are not purposely trying to invade your space. It is a cultural thing.

The last time we went in the DEAD of summer...end of July. It was hot, humid, crowded, with Brazilian tour groups galore. Guess what? It was the BEST family vacation we have ever had! Even my husband, who HATES (with a passion) theme parks, crowds and very hot weather had a blast and couldn't wait to go back. Seriously!!!

My advice to you is to PLAN! We heavily, heavily relied on touring plans. Last time I used UG solely, this time I am doing kind of a combo of UG and TGM. We also did DxDDP and did lots of TS meals for rest, and we spent 3-4 hours back at our room every afternoon for some R&R. And we got to rope drop every morning. We were able to do EVERY SINGLE THING we wanted, some of them more than once. We rarely experienced lines of more than 10 minutes, seriously!

Two vital tips:
1. Have a plan and stick with it.
2. BE THERE AT ROPE DROP!!!

You can still have a magical vacation no matter what time of year. Have a great trip!

I believe you can make lemonade out of lemons...Just plan well and be prepared for crowds here or there...Plan on leaving plenty of travel time and use FP hen ever possible...The decorations are amazing and the weather is terrific...There is nothing more magical than Disney around the holidays...I am sure you have a wonderful time...Just get a good "touring plan" together...

I disagree with you assessment of the tour groups from Brazil...Yes, there are a lot of them but I would not single them out as the most rude...Every time we go we encounter rude behavior from one person/ group or another and they have come from people with many different ethnic backgrounds...The tour groups from Brazil usually include younger people and they tend to be very sweet...I have also seen people abuse the wheelchair rental but they were of all races of ethnic groups....I am caucasian and I have encountered the most rude behavior and most commonly from other caucasians...This assessment of yours is very harsh and upsetting...And not needed to answer the OP question....

We have been in the MK on taping day...Walking near and on Main Street is difficult but the lines were very short for the rides...So many people were there just for the parade and I guess since others avoid the park the lines were a breeze...We did not participate in the taping at all and had a very nice day there...But plan on Main Street being packed and hard to travel...

I do not think this ethnocentric but is absolutely stereotyping at its worst

I'm going around the same time and am not worried. I've gone around this time many times and it's always this way. Rooms are booked up and people are freaking. While the WDW resorts maybe booked up, offsite is probably not and it isn't a popular time for locals. Regarding the parade, I thought I read the actual parade taping was Dec 5. That's the day you have to be concerned about. They tape the castle shows or park spots the day or two before, those don't create big crowd problems.

I've been ot WDW over thirty times. I never even noticed any Brazilian tour groups until I read about them on the DIS. I've been to WDW nearly every month of the year, though 2009 was my first summer trip.

I do think BTG's tend to go certain times of year, but I also imagine WDW is doing their best right now to woo foreign travelers all year. I still don't think winter is the high season for BTG's.

Lots of DISer's just like to complain. and complain. and complain.

I think if you go with the mindset that BTG's ARE going to ruin your trip- and you'll be looking for them - then maybe you will let them ruin your trip- and maybe cancelling is a good idea....but if you can get beyond that idea...then I think it can be safely salvaged.

Brazillians are not really any different than any other person at WDW. Any person can be rude, and any person can be nice. Mostly I found the tour groups stayed to themselves. We had no problems with any of them. I have encounterd rude Americans. You probably will too. If an encounter with a rude guest will ruin your trip, maybe WDW is not the place for you. You have to be able to let a certain amount of rudeness roll off your back to enjoy WDW. ButI suppose that is true in every day life as well.

Oh, lets's see, I've been to WDW in every month except Jan, June and July.

I did not mean rude to me. Just watching them in lines in front of us.. Rude meant the wheelchair abuse. Almost knocking them down. People who got in their way. i have never spoken to them so I might rephrase that meaning rude acting. We have not seen any other group acting like that or abusing the wheelchair rentals. We keep to ourselve's and tend to not be outspoken about anything going on in the world. This was just purely an observation form the many lines we go into that had these groups. I did not hear loudness, just the wheelchair thing. I just hope that they did not run out for people who truly needed those chairs. I have heard they run out by 10 am in the morning. Please accept my appologies for the way I worded it but I am not steriotyping anything here just what I saw and yes, they were from Brazil as all their T shirts matched and said Brazil. Otherwise look at my post they and everyone has a right to be anywhere including us caucasions. For the most part we try and be on our best behavior when we have visitors to our country don't we??

I'm right there with you, when I have called to change things they always tell me nothing else available--ughh, but to make matters worse DD has allergies or asthma, she is going again to the doctor tomorrow--I think it's both so I'm nervous about going away with her and maling sure she is on the right stuff. Oh, and DS come up ot me tonight and said that his ears hurt real bad and his throat hurt too...really!??!!?? I guess it's better now then later right?? I thikn I feel sick too--sick of planning and the thought of something going wrong
