Newbie with a question

My wife and I will be taking our daughters (5 & 2) to Magic Kingdom (Orlando) for Christmas (2009). Wife and I have been there many times, but not in the last ten years and never as "responsible" parents. This is the first time for both of my girls and we want to make it a truly amazing experience for both of them. We arrive at Orlando on Christmas Eve & will be going to MK on Christmas day. Obvioulsy, we want to make this as magical as possible for our girls and are wondering if there are any special events that can absolutely not be missed. Also, any tips would be greatly appreciated, we are aware that it will be extremely crowded, which does concern us, but there isn't much that will keep us from making this a magical Disney Christmas for our little 'princesses'. Thank you.

I don't know if it is already too late or not, but dining at the castle with the princesses is pretty awesome. (There are other locations also, but I'm not as familiar). Also, you may want to check out the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique for princess appointments(If this is too much $, you can get pixie dusted at the barber on Main St. for $5 each. Not the same, but good for a budget). That's about the limit of my girlie knowledge since I have boys!

Thank you, my wife did reserve breakfast at the castle for Christmas morning and have been on the fence about the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique because the little one won't sit still long enough. Thanks for the tip on the pixie dust, we didn't know about that. I'm in the same boat, I don't know a lot about the 'girlie' Disney stuff either.

You can do a carriage ride at some of the hotels. Not sure which ones.

The youngest they take at BBB is 3 yrs old. Sometimes we have run into the Fairy Godmothers near the store (DTD) and they offer to dust my niece with pixie dust. She declined this year.

I would get the Photopass CD. You can add boarders and edit the photos and your whole family can be in the photos.

If you can get an early ADR at any of the character meals in the parks before it opens you can get some nice crowd free photos.

The older one might be interested in autographs. You can do a book, or other item (we did T-shirts at the character meals).

Thank you for your responses, it's been so long since I've been there, it's sad because it's only a 3 hour drive from us. In many ways, it's everybody's first time. As a kid, I always wanted to go on Christmas Day, but we had traditions that prevented it. Unfortunately, my sister was the one that coordinated these party's (after our mother passed away), and now she's been in a coma for 8 months and Christmas has been sort of cancelled this year, we thought spending those days there would be a good distraction for the girls and for us, maybe even start a new holiday tradition.
