Characters on Main St. after rope drop?

I'm embarrassed to admit, but after more than 30 trips to the MK, January will be my first time at rope drop. When I was a kid, there was no way my mom would get to the park that early. Now that I've been planning the trips, we usually have ADRs scheduled an hour before the park opens!

I was wondering if there will be several characters out somewhere on Main Street or by the castle right after rope drop. Or do they wait for the crowd to thin out a bit before they come out?

Thanks for any info!
Julie

They're in Town Square right after rope drop. Know that not all of the characters in the opening ceremony will be out for meet & greets though. For the most part the ones that are out include Pluto, Daisy, Chip, Dale, and maybe a few others (in August Pinocchio and Mary Poppins were also out).

Thanks for the replies! Are the characters swamped with people at that time or are they pretty easy to get through quickly? Just trying to decide if we'll stop for them then or head right to the rides!

Thanks.

They have about medium-sized lines. Probably about 5-10 minutes max., if that. If you want to head on in, though, the characters stay in Town Square pretty much all morning long, so you can always come back and see them later. I think they head in at around 2.

We only stop for the characters we don't see anywhere else. We stopped for Pincocchio and Mary Poppins in June.

We were going to head to Daisy's line but it was cut off for her break right when we got there so we skipped it.

But if you want to ride Dumbo, I'd skip the character lines and head straight back to that. Otherwise you could be in for a long wait for that ride.
