A great bike ride at the Fort

My DW and I took a great bike ride at the Fort. The trail from Fort Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge. Flat, a little sandy, but the deer and armadillos running around made all that moot. Going behind the old RIVER COUNTRY waterpark brought back memories. The ride is probably an easy mile, but anybody with a bike, this is a must do. My DW, Shirley did it on her 3 speed trike.
I wore my AVATAR (my River Country shirt) just to bring back the memories of the "RIVAH COUNTRY" -----For those who have not done this bike ride. "JUST DO IT"
The starting point is just past the Cirlcle D Ranch (I hope that is the name)--It is where the horses are. Just keep them on your right side and the trail begins on the right where the horse stables end and goes down toward the lake.
I'm sure expierenced DIS CAMPING MEMBERS can explain this better than me.

This sounds like fun. Can you rent bikes at FW, and if so, where?

Not sure ?????

I believe you can rent bikes at the BIKE BARN. It is near the swimming pool, just about dead center at FT Wilderness. They rent canoes, kayaks and I assume bikes. They do call it the BIKE BARN. I know they had bike rentals at the Wilderness Lodge. That is where the trail ends when you come over from Ft Wilderness.

Maybe the... Bike Barn! There's a thought. Who knew it would be so obvious? Thanks.

We take that ride ever time we are at the Fort. We usually go over to Wilderness Lodge for lunch at the Roaring Forks. We have never had a wait and the food is good. Wish FW had a similar set up.

Go on that ride at dusk and dawn (not us, we are not early risers) and the number of deer you will see is amazing.

Of course they rent bikes at the Bike Barn.

But if you want to rent one, you had better ride fast, or have deep pockets, or both. Here are the prices:

$18.00 dollars a day for a bike. I could go to Wally world and buy one for $70.00. Duh

We do that ride many times while we're there.. we love it. Especially early in the morning when it's cool. We'll have to try the restaurant at Wilderness Lodge next time. Another fun thing is a very early morning jog or walk on the trail to the right of the marina. They had it closed some evenings due to the haunted carriage... but it is a beautiful.
