A Baby's Best Friend?

Anyone ever rented from a "Baby's Best Friend"?

Thinking of renting a full size crib when we go in Mar for DD who will be 5 months.

I know the DVC rooms have a pack and play but rather have a full size crib.

Wondering if anyone used them before and what they thought?

Also will be doing a split stay, OKW and BLT and while they will pick up the crib and drop off at different locations but was wondering how Disney Bell Service would be bringing it from resort to resort.

Thanks

The resorts also offer portable cribs that have metal rails. They look similar to this:

http://www.overstock.com/Baby/LA-Bab.../product.html#

They are higher off of the ground than a pnp and have a thicker mattress, but are smaller than a full-sized crib that you would have at home. We used one at WDW when DD was 8.5 months old. We ended up winding the flat sheet for the pullout sofa through the rails to act as a bumper on the end where her head was to prevent her from hitting her head when she wiggled in her sleep, but other than that, it worked really well for us.

This year, since she is much bigger, we are renting a full-sized crib from ABBF.

We have rented from them several times

We've had great success renting from them - used them for several different trips. Our kids won't sleep in pack-n-plays - they only like full sized cribs - so we've had to rent full sized ones on our trips. Their equipment has always arrived on time, in great condition, well marked, reasonable prices, etc. We've also rented a stroller, rocking chair and other items through them.

They won't come move the stuff for you - that will be up to you to do. If you're staying at each resort long enough, you may want to consider 2 separate rentals. Otherwise I guess Bell Services can move it for you (with adequate tipping of course and you'll have to fold it all up).

Hope this helps,
Sue

Never used them. Took my 7 month old grandson a few years ago and the pack and play actually worked quite well. Fit perfectly along the windows in the master bedroom of our 2 bedroom villa. Depending on the room type you are getting, floor space can be quite tight, especially for a full sized crib...

I've done this with a split stay (BWV and BCV). We rented a toddler bed and full size crib. DS slept very in the full size crib (he was 13 months at the time). Bell services moved the stuff from resort to resort. You would need to take apart the crib first and then set it up again - but this was very easy. I did it myself both times in less than 10 min (and I'm not good at putting things together). I did tip bell services extra for the transfer of items.

Has anyone put a full-size crib in a 1BR?

We are staying at AKV Jambo House and wondering how much room we will have if we rent a full size crib for the living room.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.

We rented a full size crib from BBF when our DD was 10 months old. We had a great experience renting from them and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. The crib we had was a bit difficult for me to put together myself as it would have been easier to have another person hold the other side up while I slid rails into place. Other than that, it was easy - no tools needed and it came with full instructions.

penguins1 - We stayed in a 1BR at Jambo House recently. You won't have a problem putting the crib in the living room although you may have to move the coffee table unless you maybe put it along the door to the adjoining room (if there is one).

A crib definitely wouldn't fit in the bedroom though. We put the Pack 'n Play in the room with us and practically needed a shoe horn to wedge it between the bed and wall!

We rented a full sized crib from ABBF for our stay at AKV (had a 1br value). It was great to have, fit just fine and my baby slept much much better than he would have in a PNP.

We had no issues getting the crib, putting it together or breaking it down. Very simple and easy to work with. Would rent from them again!

We rented a stroller from them several years back and ran into some problems.

It was one of those sit-and-stand strollers which has a normal seat in the front for a small child and a bench on the back for a toddler to stand upon. The bench was broken from the get-go and wouldn't support any weight.

I called and they said they would deliver a replacement the next day. But the person I spoke with sort of let out a big sigh and said something about having to figure out when another would be available depending upon their scheduled returns. My guess is they knew this one was broken and tried to fix it, but the fix didn't hold.

I guess that's the danger one faces when dealing with small businesses. When things don't go as planned, they don't necessarily have the resources to immediately respond.

That's just one experience so it's not necessarily indicative of their typical service. But I thought I would share anyway.

Thanks everyone.

We are going a Studio at OKW and 1 BR at BLT. Just trying to decide if we should get it for the whole stay or just the BLT portion. Not sure if we will have enough room at OKW.

Sounds like Bell Services will move it too. Cool!

I have used a twin size aerobed in the OKW studios with plenty of room to walk around it so you should be fine with a full size crib at OKW.

If you don't have to use the sleeper sofa, you will likely have more floor space in the studio. Our last 2 trips have been in a 2 BR... we gave my parents the "master" and took the studio because there was more room to put the crib in the studio. Not to say you can't get it in the other room, it's just a tighter fit.

Btw... we have always rented a crib from abbf as dd will not sleep in a pack n play and I wanted her to be as confortable as possible. Their equipment has always been immaculate and in great condition.
