Ship Kids Clubs Strict ???

I am going on the Wonder for Spring break with my 3 Grandchildren and I am really looking forward to it.

They have all been on it twice before when they were little but this is the first time I am taking them by myself. They will be 14,13 and 12. The younger two are boys and they are very close. My quesrtion is; I think the way the age groups are broken down the younger one will be by himself. Do they ever make exceptions and let a younger one move up with their siblings. I am not worried about him being with the older kids because he is a really good, responsable boy.I really hope he can or he will be very disappointed.

Yes, they sometimes make exceptions to keep families together. Exceptions are based on making the request, the maturity of the child, and space availability.

In January we went w/ another family. Their DD was 14 & our DS was 13. She was eligible for the stack & he wasn't. They let her move down to Ocean Quest but neither of them liked it. So, I went to the counselor in the stack & asked if they could go there instead. Which meant my son moving up a level. They did it w/ no problem at all. Then the kids didn't end up going there either. They were content with hanging out in the cabin all day listening to iPods & watching TV. But, they both claimed they had a lot of fun. I guess everyone has their own idea of fun!

what are the current age breaks. They keep changing. The 13 year old wasn't allowed in the Stack?

They are strict on the age groups. We have 4 kids with about 2 years between them. They will allow the older child to step back to a younger group. They do not allow the younger to move up a group even if they are very mature for their age!

They changed the ages last year & they made it ages 14 & up. Like I said, they DID make an exception for my DS 13 to go. But initially, they made him go into ocean quest for "his age". It was only after I said he hated it did they let him move up. It was very simple though.

They were very strict when DD was 12 3/4 and The Stack was 13 and up...but there have been many reports of people being allowed to move kids up, especially when it involved keeping families together.

On the WONDER, the ALOFT program is 13-17. On the Magic, The Stack is 14-17 because they have Ocean Quest for 11-13s.

How about Ocean Quest for a 10.5 year old? She will be all alone and the rest of our group (4 other kids) will be in OQ....I assumed she would be able to join them

Once again, all you can do is ask. Moving up is based on your request, the child's maturity, and there being space available in the program they wish to move to. If a level is full, they will not allow movement at all as the goal is for each child to be able to fully participate in programming. They are very good about trying to keep family groups together if desires.
