Any upgrades after cabing assignment? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We used our DVC cruise voucher and were assigned a cat 9 GTY. I just checked our reservation on-line and we've been assigned a cat 9 room on deck 1. I'm a little disappointed since we linked our reservations with our parents reservation and they are on deck 2 and I do see at least one at 9 room available on deck 2.

I've never booked a GTY so I dont' knwo exactly how it worked. We had to book a GTY in order to use the voucher.

Two questions:
1. Has anyone booked a GTY, been assigned a room and then still been upgraded after that?
2. If you book a GTY and are assigned a room, can you ask for a different room as long as it's in the same category you booked?

Answer to both your questions is yes. If you have a GTY cabin DCL can change your cabin at any time up until you check in at the port.

We were able to change our cabin assignment one year when we had a cat. 11 assigned and I called and asked them to move us to a cabin closer to our friend's cabin. If you see a cabin that you will be happier with call DCL and see if they will move you.

We had linked reservations with my parents and their friends and picked 3 rooms right next to each other. We got some pixie dust and they had upgraded my DH and I but not the rest of the group. My TA called DCL and told them that we had wanted to stick together so DCL ended up upgrading the other 2 rooms as well and put us right next door to each other.

As above, both answers are yes.

We had a gty and were put on a different floor than our friends. We called and were moved to the same floor about 3 doors down. No upgrade, but together.

On a different cruise, we found out we'd been upgraded when we checked in at the terminal.

i made a last minute "me" decision and booked 2 days ago for a cruise next week. booked cat 6 gaurantee thru dreams. the dreams website still shows this but the disney website has assigned a wonderful mid ship cat 6. so what you all are saying is that the cabin number still might change? Whatever happens is okay by me as I am just happy to be on the ship but i have to say i would be a little disappointed to be moved to a solid metal verandah...
