Does anyone know if you are allowed to either check fruit in baggage or take it in carry-on? Has anyone brought orchard fruit home on an airline before? We are flying NWA and I can't find the answer online. We are planning to stop at Showcase of Citrus before leaving and I'd LOVE to bring some hand-picked goodies home for friends and teachers.
TIA!

I have seen the answer on the northwest site. I'm sure it says you can carryon a box of citrus at no extra charge in addition to your regular carryone luggage. I'll look it up and see if I can find it again.
I can't find it now. I wonder if they changed it, because I didn't have a hard time finding it a couple months ago. Maybe you can call and ask.

I should know this we have been so many time but we eat the fruit when dow.
The only time we have taken anything home was when we drove down and I brought back 2 gallons of their fresh squeezed OJ in our cooler.

Thanks for posting about this place I would love to go there. Last year I brought oranges back in my carry on.

I think the only time you'd run into trouble is if you were flying outside the continental US. I believe Hawaii has import/export restrictions on fruit and I know that Australia does. When we landed in the Sydney airport we were greeted by fruit-sniffing dogs! (Cute little beagles).

Crazy as it sounds, we flew home from California with a flat of strawberries for our kids. Hubby held the flat on his lap the entire way. I can't believe we did that!
That was in 2002.

It was a year and a half ago, but I flew from FL to IN on Allegiant with a large mesh bag of oranges as my carry on. No problems at all.
