A surprise for boys 9 & 11

Hello..
We will be going to DW April 2 - April 9, 2010...Will by myself, daughter/son in law/ and grandsons 9 & 11...I am wanting to surprise either all of them or just the 2 boys with something special while their...

I was looking on DisneyWorld.com...are the specialty cruises the same as wishes cruises...do you know if when on the cruises are you able to see tinkerbell slide down the wire....

Do you have some other special surprise...everything seems to be geared toward lil girls...

I thought about a character meal but not sure as to which for boys...

I thought about one of the specialtys to do with dolphins but afraid one of the boys may not be up to getting in the water and swimming with all the creatures, LOL...they are all BOY but sometimes that one can be a lil shy...

The boys are not brothers...one belongs to the daughter and son in law going with us, it will be his very first time... the other belongs to another daughter and son in law...his Dad will have just left for deportation to Iraq...

Any ideas/suggestion will be greatly appreciated...

First off, why not focus on the before the trip part. Make them count down charts so they can get all excited or you could go to the community board in the pay it forward discussion and have someone write them postcards from WDW while they are there in March. My kids love getting a postcard from Mickey which they can see really came from Orlando.

While there, I think they will love Chef Mickey's -- my nephews love that place -- lots of commotion and great desserts.

A specialty cruise would be fun -- but they can be a bit pricy and it would be hard to see Tink from there. I think Pirates League like the previous poster said might be a cool idea.

Oh -- and don't forget to pick up a bunch of glo sticks at Michaels or the dollar store before you go -- great to play with while waiting for the parade and also makes finding your kids in the dark so much easier.

Have a ball.

Plan early and Tinker Bell can visit in the night and leave things for them that are themed to whatever your plans on for the next day. My boys love when Tinker Bell visits. The first visit, she came to our room almost every night and it was funny because you could see where she walked on the counter in the bathroom. She must sprinkle pixie dust when she walks? Anyway, the second trip, she mailed a big box to them the day before we left (driving) and in it were many wrapped presents. The card said that the entire gang helped pick them out and the princesses and Wendy wrapped them. They were labeled so that each had a very specific time and place on our drive to get opened. The final present was to be opened in our hotel room and it worked great because we arrived at 2am and she had sent each of them some pjs.

For California, the boys weren't even sure if she would know they were there, but on our last night, conveniently just after the 7 year old mentioned that she must not have known they were coming, the front desk called to say she had just stopped by. We ran down and she had sent my 7 year old a stuffed Pluto he had just been looking at earlier in a shop and my 10 year old got the coolest California Screamin' t-shirt. He loved that roller coaster. So now they wonder what she'll do on this trip. I guess only time will tell...

Keeping the magic going is as much fun for Tinker Bell as it is for the kids.

Oh and once, while at MK, I was in the bathroom and when I came out, the boys said that the CM working the register had heard their name and realized that they were the boys Tink had told her about and that Tink had left each of them a Pirates of the Caribbean gun, which they had been wanting.

Hoop-Dee-Doo

My three boys LOVE it.

They also loved the Kim Possible Adventure at Epcot. It doesn't cost extra, you just have to sign up in Innoventions on the way into the park. Great fun for boys! And you can do it multiple times.

If you visit Hollywood Studios and want to do a sit down lunch/diner I recommend 50's Prime Time Cafe. I think the antics that go on there would entertain too young boys.
ex: when my son was 13, we went there and "Uncle Tim " our waitor came to our table and immediately scolded us for not keeping in touch and forgetting to send him a Christmas card. After he walked away with our drink order my gullible son asked if he was related to us- it was priceless!
**Read up on the restaurant for yourself and remember you would want an advanced reservations.

This summer the only way I could get DH to go to WDW again was if I promised to try something new.

We booked a fishing trip. It was wonderful!!!! We all had a great time!!!! It isn't cheap-it is $260 for the boat-up to 5 fit on the boat. I had a 20% off coupon from the Birbaums book. You choose where you want to be picked up-MK resort or Epcot resort. Cost includes guide and all the gear for 2 hours. We did a 7am out of the Polynesian. We all caught mutiple fish-catch & release. The guide was really great.
