the dreaded trip...we're home again, jiggity jig - The DIS Discussion Forums

I'll warn ya - this is my first TR so you'll have to bear with me - cause I have been known to chase a few rabbits while I'm talking!

And one other thing - I was dreading this trip for a couple of weeks - I had this gut feeling that something bad would happen - I guess that was why I dreaded it - well that & the LONG drive down....

The cast of characters were...me, dh, 3 dd's, 11, 6 & 3, Grandma, Papa (didn't stay with us & were only there 2 days), and Gramm

We left on Thurs 15th around 3:30 & arrived @ our Marriot hotel around 2am. The hotel was nice, roomy & had a large b'fast with waffles, cereal, oatmeal, etc.

On Fri a.m. we were up & at'em by 7:30ish so we could get a move on it - but we had to stop by ASM to get checked in & pick up our tickets. From there we took the bus to MK. We always start out trip with MK & end with MK. We arrived just after park opening.

Our fam wore our matching tie dye MM shirts (grandparents didn't have them) & we got many compliments on them & I think they looked terrible considering others I have seen on here!

WE went first to the Barber shop to get dd's hair cut & pixie dust (pd). We were charged $28 - 2 got trims & 1 got just pixie dust & 1 got both. We had Michael who we'd had before years ago & boy was he GRUMPY & the pd he put in fell right out of dd's hair - I was TICKED & then we had another guy that was FABULOUS do 2 girls & his pd stayed like it was supposed to til it was washed out.

well that's a start - will try to add some pics on here if dd will cooperate....

I'll try to add a bit more before the kiddos get home....

After our pd we went straight to Fantasyland for Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh & Small World. On Friday (16th) the wait time was about 20 mins for most rides. We rounded the corner for Haunted Mansion & that line looked horrendous - past the Liberty Boat area - so we kept on going.

We had lunch @ Pecos Bills. I had the new chicken mashed pot & corn on cob (its pictured @ the register not on regular marquee). It was excellant - tried the BBQ sand too I thought it was good but my dad said it tasted like the can of Manwich poured over some shredded meat.

Others had burgers & all was just tasty.

We followed lunch with Splash Mountain. My 11 dd has ridden SM numerous times but for some reason this year she got freaked out - she had read in the map about the 52' drop & that was it....we couldn't get her on that ride for anything - she was in tears!

so she & a grandmother stayed behind.

I forgot to mention Spash Mnt was closed when we 1st arrived - they said techinical difficulties -but it was only down for about 1 hour after we were there.
After Splash Mnt t - dh & dd (6) went on BTMR & the rest went to Country Bear - while I spent my time in the bathroom with an upset stomach (TMI I know!

After SMnt we went to ride PoTC & Aladdin -

OK so while writing I have figured out I have NO memory! I so can't remember the order in which we did things! It all runs together!

ahh - checked the pics & next we went to see the 3:00 parade, in front of the castle. We used a snack credit & got the MM head icecream on a stick. LOVED that! GREAT pics of some messy girls! I'm so glad I had babywipes on me!

Grandma,me & dd's went to watch the parade upclose while everyone else rested on the benches near the Walt &MM statue. Dd (3) weasled her way in front of some people to sit right on the curb - her sisters were a little behind her & me & grandma a little further back.

Parade was nice, dds were enjoying it completely until one of the characters got too close (I think it was Aladdin but I can't remember) dd(3) decided that was too close & she scooted back to sit in the closest lap - of a TOTAL stranger!

She sat in some man's lap that was sitting right there behind her - we died laughing -he was so nice about it & it didn't bother him one bit!

After the parade we went to everyone else & ran into a family with tiedye MM shirts - so I spoke & of course it's a fellow DISer....the 1st time I've ever run into anyone! YAY!

we chatted for a bit...

There are a couple of great threads on here showing you how to make the tye die shirts - mine aren't very good but I didn't redo them I left them as is -the kiddos did their own dyeing.

I'll try to add a link if I can figure out how...but in the meantime look in the creative disigns section.

I do feel for you being sick - not the best way to spend a day at MK
