Getting ready in a value resort?

Has anyone done this? I'm staying at the pop Century since this is where the rest of the family is staying, but I'm just afraid of not having enough room to get ready in the morning. I've tried to think of way of being able to stay at one of the deluxe resorts for the night before, but it's just not going to work logistically. Is there anything I should request for the room, that might make my life a little easier?

Will you be sharing the room or have it all to yourself?

One thing you can try is requesting a handicap-accessible King room. We got one of these on our first stay at Pop and wondered why everyone complained about room sizes at Pop. Then, on our next trip, we got a regular room....

I've found you have a better chance of getting the room type you want if you check in earlier in the day. They say you can request certain rooms in advance, but whenever we haven't gotten the kind we wanted at Pop, they've told us it's because they were given out already that day.

When DF and I went last christmas, we stayed at Pop and requested a room with one king bed a few months in advance. It was a pretty good size, especially if you tuck away your suitcases and keep it clean. I would say four people could get ready in it.

If other people are going with you, and staying at Pop, you could ask for joining rooms. This way, you would essential have 2 rooms to go between while getting ready.

Ooh - good idea! Just be sure you ask for "connecting" rooms and not "adjoining" ones. To Disney, only "connecting" rooms actually have a door between them, whereas adjoining are just next to each other.

I know some of the value resorts have remolded some rooms so that two rooms became one. My grandma was looking at one of these rooms to stay. The only problem is they cost a lot more. They where made for families that have more then 4 people. If money is not a big deal you may want to look at this.

I had the same problem that you do in that we were staying at the pop century and I wasn't going to have enough room to get ready. Plus, I didn't want to have to worry about getting from one place to the next since we were trying to cut down on transportation costs.

We ended up switching our free night to the night before the wedding so that we could stay at the grand floridian and use that room to get ready. It meant that we came back and spent our wedding night at the pop century (took the bus and everything!) but for us it was totally worth it.

Thank you so much for the help! I think I already asked for a room with a king size bed, but I'm going to call again and make sure. Maybe if I play the wedding card, I'll increase my chances of getting that room! We're driving down, so I'll definitely try to get there earlier in the day so my chances are better too! Thanks!
