BLT Pics - 3 of 4 - Fireworks from Top of the World Lounge

This is the 3rd of 4 posts....

We were very happy the way things worked out for us with the fireworks.
As mentioned in a previous post, we opted for a lake view room that overlooked the Contemporary, so we knew we would need to view the fireworks from TOWL.
The week we were in WDW (October 12 to 16), I believe the fireworks took place on Wednesday and Friday only, so I was concerned that TOWL would be crowded on Wednesday. No need to worry!

We stopped by the lobby around 7:50 PM (the fireworks were at 9), and were whisked up to TOWL. We were the FIRST people there! We grabbed a seat, and had some drinks and appetizers (the lump crab nachos and summer rolls, both excellent). Our server was Debbie, she was an absolute doll, we chatted a long time.

People gradually trickled in, I got out of my seat in the lounge at 8:55 PM on the dot, and walked outside, and was able to get a spot with my wife right at the wall, with no problem.

Is TOTW a first come first serv thing? We are going in April and booked a BLT standard view to save points. We want to watch from TOTW at least once on our trip.

We're new to DVC so I guess the veterans on here can comment on how often policies change...but I can speak to how it was last week when we were there.

That week the fireworks were only done on Wednesday and Friday. It was first come, first served, and you had to be staying on points at BLT (not cash). The fireworks were at 9 PM...we showed up in the lobby to check in somewhere around 7:50 PM and were brought right up, and from what we could see, we were the ONLY people there that early! We hung around, had some drinks and appies, and of course people trickled in over the next hour. We literally left our seats in the lounge 5 minutes before the fireworks started, and walked right up to the wall and watched from there (we did not have to stand behind anyone, although from up there, that would not have mattered).

I'm at BLT now. Wishes fireworks is on nights that are not a Halloween party night. On Halloween party nights, they have 'HalloWishes' fireworks at 9:30, and the finale is really spectacular. I've seen those fireworks from Top of the World twice so far. Haven't had any difficulty getting up there, even at the last minute. But I didn't actually go into the lounge, just the observation deck. Also, I was told that you no longer have to be staying on points to get to the lounge. You just need to have made your reservation (points or cash) thru MS.

Also, when EPCOT fireworks are at 9pm and Hallowishes is at 9:30, you can watch both from up there. The EPCOT fireworks are at a distance, and they don't pipe in the music for that, but you can still see them pretty well.

Thank you liz and kev -- helpful to see the perspective of the fireworks with the castle w/o telephoto. My favorite place to watch is between Philharmagic and Pinocchio's -- not sure I could give that up for the long-range view (altho it does look like a fun place to be) -- even with the agony of struggling back to the car or bus leaving MK after the fireworks [I LOOOOOOVE fireworks -- and being right under the aerials by P and P is great].
