Our DS will turn 18 a few days before we go to WDW.
We are not looking for any park birthday perks - like the free ticket or what ever....but it would be nice if we could tell Crystal Palace it was his birthday and get him a cupcake. Do you think that would be OK ? Could we still get a birthday button at the Park Entrance ? Thanks! |

"We're celebrating Jerry's birthday today."
100% true, and a perfectly reasonable celebration. |

I do it every year. Sure you can. I get a pin and a cup cake. I go the last week in August and always have to leave a couple of days before my birthday. I never had a problem. Have fun.

Definitely!
We did it for my niece and nephew a few years ago. Their birthdays are the 9th and 14th of January and we went the last weekend in January. Wore birthday buttons and got lots of special attention at CP for lunch. We are doing the same thing this year for them!

When I made my ADRs
for our trip this past summer, the CM dutifully asked me if we were celebrating anything on our trip. I made some conversational comment to the effect that no we weren't and the closest birthday was my daughter's who would be turning 6 a week and a half after we got home. She marked us down for a birthday celebration. We had a card from Mickey in the room and some of the TS locations had something a little extra for her.

I was wondering this too! My birthday is 4 days before we arrive at Disney. When making my reservations online, there was a place to enter in if you were celebrating something and what the actual date of the celebration was. So I did put in that it was my birthday and its actual date, but I didn't know if anything "magical" would come out of it! I also selected one of our dinners that I made ADRs for as my birthday dinner and said we'd be celebrating.
I do feel a little funny about wearing a birthday button though when it's not my actual birthday...but if it's okay to do that, maybe I will!!

Absolutely!
When I made my ADRs, the CM asked me if we were celebrating anything. I had said how the trip was my birthday gift but it wasn't anywhere near my birthday (we're going in Feb and my BD is in September). She said, "SO! Make sure you get your birthday pin and wear it!" I thought it was sweet. We'll see if I actually do it though. It feels like cheating.

If this is your early birthday celebration why does it matter what time of the year you celebrate it? It's your day! We did it for our daughter when we went the first time, we went a couple of months shy of her birthday and we had a blast, she loved that we wanted to make her time special, we didn't ask for special treatment, we were there to celebrate her special day.

We're planning to do so for DD's birthday. We will arrive 2 days after her birthday and though it's not why we are going, we'll still celebrate while we're down there.

You can celebrate anything at any time you wish. It will not matter to Disney. You will have to decide if it matters to you personally. However, you should probably not expect to be given anything more than birthday wishes, whether it's your actual birthday or not.
The free ticket option (which expires at the end of this year) IS good only on the actual birth date, but anyone can wear a birthday button at any time.

Our last trip was the year of our 15th anniversary. We were so busy and in saving mode for our trip that we didn't get to do anyting special to celebrate it. A couple months before our trip my DH said for me to try and get an ADR for Cali Grill since we didn't do anyting special. We wern't planning on celebrating, just going for us. I was trying for about a week, calling all the time hoping for someone to cancel. I finally got and ADR for the perfect tiem to see WISHES. The man on the phone (still remember, his "name" was King,) was really nice and I was telling him how excited I was that we never do anyting like this and what my husband had said about let's do it and all. I never expected him to do anything about it, we were just chatting (I thought.)
When we checked in to our hotel they gave us anniversary buttons. My DH was like, what are these for? I had not put it on our reservation. Our night at the Cali Grill our table was decorated, we were greated with a Happy Anniversary and our desserts had the anniversary chocolate banners on them. It was so nice. When we got back to our room that night there was a signed picture from Mickey and Minnie and balloons. It was so sweet, and they knew it was not our actual anniversary. My point, I know some people mind, but Disney doesn't and it seems, actually encourage it. Ours was done 5 monts late! We didn't celebrate all week, but we really did that night, and it was really nice.

We have changed our plans several times since our original plan, but both my kids were born in the same month and we were going to go between them.. and I had every intention of getting birthday buttons etc.. it would have been instead of parties at home so I figured it was fine!

We're doing this! My dd's bday is the week after our trip so I mentioned that when making ADRs and they noted it. I haven't told my dd though and hope she gets surprised at the meal.
