Cat. 10 to Cat 9 for $220?
What do you think? Should we upgrade from a Cat. 10 to a Cat. 9GTY for $220 for a 7-day cruise?
Thanks for your input!

Is a window worth $30 per day? That's something only you can decide. I'd probably take it because my DD isn't happy unless she has "at least a window this time." The other thing is that if you want to try for a balcony at the terminal it will be cheaper...and you might buy the cat 9 and get pixie dust on top of that!

I was using the same/math logic as you! I thought $30 per day is a small price to pay for sunshine. I also know it is risk to take a GTY since we may end up in a less desirable cat.9...I guess that is the roll of the dice!!!

What category were you in? Looks like $220 might be a good price...

We were in a 10. Had they offered it at $220 I probably would have taken it. But honestly as a person that has only ever cruised with a verandah I surprisingly really liked the inside room.

I recently upgraded from a gty9 to gty 8 and it cost me $250 on a 7 day.
You are in the right price range, and you will be going to at least an ocean view. (luckilly I got a free upgrade after that to a cat 6 )

A gty room can be assigned at any time. Most of the time you'll see your assignment on line at about 30 days before sailing, but sometimes it will first appear on your luggage tags. If you are upgraded free, you may not find out till you get to the port. Then again, many find out at that 30 day mark.

Thanks! We set sail 18 days from today. Is it strange for them to still sell GTY cabins at this point? Maybe they were hoping to open up interior rooms?!?
