Anyone share experience going during kids winter break (Feb) or spring break (April)?

Hi,

I was looking at going Feb 13-19, 2010 or April 17-23, 2010. We have been to Disney several times, but usually in August. I was looking at resort prices and April prices are slightly lower than Feb (I thought Feb seemed high). But Feb airfare was really expensive. Is this the norm? Will it all cost more as it's a school vacation week? And is it worth going during these times? Also, how is the weather there in Feb?

Thannks for any insight

I'd go with Spring Break. Your Winter Break falls during both President's Week and Mardi Gras, so the parks will be SUPER CROWDED.

There's a chart on this site on price seasons--for 2010, Feb 15 starts a peak season stretch. We've gone the first week or two of Feb (before Presidents Day week) and crowds are manageable and prices value season. Weather can range in Feb. Sometimes up to 80, sometimes very cool. One year there was a frost risk at night. I imagine April weather much more consistent though friends went in 2008 and had to make a shopping trip off property to buy cold-weather clothes because they were unprepared for unexpected cold-stretch and mostly packed shorts...

www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts

www.mousesavers.com/roomrates2010.html

The chart lists your April dates as regular season

2010 Easter season (peak) is March 28 to April 10.

Maybe look into crowd predictions too?? I buy Unofficial Guide to DisneyWorld (only $14 on Amazon) and gives you access to touring plans, other resources & crowd predictions online.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?u...o+disney+world

One thing to consider--you can get the buy 4 get 3 free or buy 5 get 2 free deals only until Marchsomething 2010 so that would rule out April dates.

We have done April before and it was not too bad, as long as you are a couple weeks past Easter. We are doing April 18-24, 2010 and it looks to be pretty quiet, especially during the week.

Good luck finding decent airfare that week though. So far it seems to be about triple the price of a couple of weeks earlier that month.

Spring Breaks are spread throughout March and April, with the week before and the week after Easter being the most crowded, and Easter moves around. It looks like your April dates are late enough that crowds should not be too bad. Also, the weather would be really nice then.
February is President's Week, and while most schools DO NOT have a break at that time it does seem that enough people do go at that time to make it more crowded, and the prices at Disney reflect that. Also, some (but not all) schools in Louisiana have time off for Mardi Gras, which sometimes falls at the same time.
I would pick the cheaper time, plus it will be warmer.

We're from MA too & do April break. It can be very crowded but the weather's great & the Flower & Garden Festival in EPCOT is beautiful.

Maybe you were referring to Louisiana but in Michigan , most School districts have either the entire Presidents week off from school called "winter break" or have a friday & monday off. I persnally know a few families that go to Disney that week.
