Pick a pearl for 3&4 yr olds

We have a book about a seahorse that loves to look for shells and at the end he finds an oyster with a pearl inside. My DD3 and DD4 love this book and I'm sure they'll love to pick a pearl. My question is what are some of the jewelry choices for their ages? I've thought about buying two of the pearl cages on ebay, but I know the pearl is not guaranteed to fit. Also I am a little leary of the quality based on the fact that they cost like 75 cents. I also don't want to spend a fortune, maybe $50 max each. Or would you just let them pick them and put them in little bags to possibly make something in the future?

My niece and I did the pick a pear in Japan at Epcot. My niece got a 7 3/4 pearl and I got twins 6 1/2 and 6 3/4. The pearl fit in my niece's Cinderella carrige cage but almost doesn't close. I put the biggest one of my pearls in my Cinderella cage and it had room to move around inside. If one of your kids gets one that is 8 or larger (I think this would be hard to do) then the Cinderella cage won't work.

I think for kids, I would get the cage off Ebay. You don't want to spend a lot of money on it. If they haven't lost the necklace, when they are older they can have the pearl set in something else or get a new cage if they want.

I put a coat or two of clear nail polish on the cages as that is what others on here said to do as they are only silver plated. They also came with a chain.

I agree. Buy something ahead of time. We let our older kids (3 and 4 at the time) do the pearl and I still just have them in a bag. They call it their "real" treasure and until I can figure out something to do with my sons, then they will stay in the drawer. But IMO, the settings there are way too pricey for that age.

My kids loved the process and it was worth it. I just hope they don't expect to do it every trip

Does anyone have a good idea for what to do with a pearl for a boy? I think the kids would love to do this, but I don't know what we would woth Charlie's.
