Zoiks...Fantasyland closings...when do you think they'll start?

We planned one trip in between now and the big Fantasyland opening. We're scheduled to go in Dec. 2010. It just dawned on me, after looking at the new Fantasyland pics, that when we go, there could be no Fantasyland at all, if it is all shut down for construction.

YIKES! I can't go to WDW without Fantasyland! When do you think the closures will start? Do you think they'll work piece by piece?

Any thoughts?

D'oh, I just looked at the map more closely. Looks like the old faves (Peter, Small World) will still be there. Doesn't look like there will be too much disruption of the old faves. Still hate to see construction walls, etc, but I'll live!
Guess I answered my own question!

Thanks

Meg

I think they plan to do it in several parts, so it won't all be closed at once. And you are correct - Peter Pan and Small World are staying the same.

The princess parts are set to open in 2012 with the fairies following in 2013.

I think I would rather they close it all up and just have a grand opening than release bits and pieces of it. My friend and I have decided to wait to revisit until the whole of Fantasyland is completed and we can completely immerse ourselves in the worlds of our favorite princesses. (And hope that Alice will get a better character spot that simply "in front of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party")

"The future is now!"
If only I was born 2 years earlier, my and EPCOT would be even more similar!

Close a LARGE chunk of Magic Kingdom? The largest part for the younger Disney visitors? Dont think that would be a good idea..

I agree. This would be the same as telling people that don't go all the time to not go for the next few years and then all come together for the grand opening.

As far as I know, the only part of Fantasyland that's going to close is Toontown. The Dumbo ride will be down for several months while it's removed and rebuilt, but for the most part, other than the construction walls covering the new area, very little will be noticed, or different.
