Unhappy Resort was sold out - now has rooms . . .

We wanted to stay at the CR for the whole week, but they were sold out of standard rooms. We made split stay ressies for POR and CR. I got online today and now they have standard rooms available for both the 4/3 and the room discount. I am within the 45 days, so I cannot change without penalty. I am upset though!!

I would call and see if they will allow you to change without a charge. I changed my reservation in September the day before we where suppose to arrive (DD broke her arm) to November and they did not charge us. They even allowed us to cancel our dinner reservations without penalty

It does not hurt to give them a call

Like Mickey Guy said, give 'em a call & see what they say. Have them check their system for availability and just ask if there will be a penalty/charge for changing. We changed a couple of times within our 45 day mark and never got hit with a charge. Good luck & hope it works out how you want.

I do this everytrip and just did it again a few days ago for our trip next Friday. As long as you are spending MORE money AND there is availability, they will not charge you for the switch. Good luck!

Have you compared the price? I would think the 4/3 for the week at the Contemporary will still be cheaper than what you have now, so even if they charge you $50 to change you could still come out ahead. Plus you'd be at the Contemporary for the whole week! Not sure of the exact amount, but your ticket savings could cover the change fee too. I think you'd save around $50 on the tickets.

In general, trip insurance is calculated based on dates & total trip cost, so I would guess it wouldn't change it. But I don't know if disney is different.

(Frex, I just got a basic travel insurance package on my trip, and the premium for $1000 coverage and for $2000 coverage was exactly the same.)

They don't charge you the penalty if you are upgrading your package, only if you are downgrading it. I did this a few trips ago and was not charged the penalty.

You can upgrade without penalty at any time!!!! Give them a call and book it before someone snags it! POR to CR is an upgrade, so you are good to go. Going from CR to POR would have a penalty though.

Thats too bad. When we booked we did it a year ahead and didnt have any problems getting the standard. A few months later i wanted to add a night and it was unavailable. Around the 45 day mark it seemed like rooms opened up so i was able to get the extra night.

I tried to change our reservation for CR today to take advantage of the 4/3 deal... We were booked on free dining from 11/1-11/6 -- but I'd love the extra days. Well they were more than willing to let me change (and weren't going to charge me to change -- but for some reason CR is completely BOOKED for the night of 11/7 --- BOOOO!!! I'm so dissapointed! I really wanted to stay the extra days!!

Can you arrive earlier and get your extra days that way?

I had the FD, so if we changed to the 4/3, I would lose my trip insurance and then have to pay for insurance again since the trip is in less than 45 days.

They block out a certain number of rooms per discount, so for the deal you booked under (FD), all of the standard rooms may very well have been all booked up.

I hope you can you work something out with them.
