How strict after Fast Pass return time has passed

For all these years I have been under the impression that WDW is fairly strict that you use your Fast Pass within the hour indicated on the pass. At Disneyland they are very leniant, for example I got a FP for Soarin and the window was 11AM - 12PM, I was able to use that FP at 6PM without any questions. Then I was reading through a touring plan from Touringplans.com and one of the steps says "Don't worry if your FASTPASS times have passed; Disney rarely enforces the times, as long as you're not trying to get in early" I knew they were very strict with not using the FP early but is this true as far as after they expire?

We had zero problem with using our "expired" FP's. We used our "Soarin'" FP exactly 12 hours later(during EEH) We zipped right in..

True, unfortunately (depending on your outlook). Rather wish theybwere a bit more strict about it tbh.

FP's do not expire for the day they were issued.

It is, and has been, Disney policy to accept expired FP's. Very rarely you will run into a situation where you will not be able to use an expired FP. Those situations have only been because it is exceptionally busy or a misguided CM.

It has no impact to allow the use of expired FP's.

We used a FP for Test Track and were waiting to go in the room to see the preshow when it broke down. We waited a while and had to get to an ADR so asked the CM is we could have our FPs back to come later. He gave us random ones from the bin they throw them in--they were not even all for the same time.
We used after the meal with no problem.

I'd say the way they worded it (highlighted above) is a good way of putting it.

If that was true there would not be a one hour window. It would say "anytime after x:xx". It disregards the purpose of the fast pass system. It's a cheat of the system IMO just like any other cheat that people rail against on these boards. I'm not even that worked up about it, I'd just prefer if they were a little more strict on when FPs can be used.

If Disney doesn't care about it, why do you? Nobody is really cheating the system then because Disney is not blocking people from using the "expired" FP. It is well known that they are good for the same day. Disney realizes that the one hour time window is hard for most people to make, what with standing in lines, ADRs, etc., so they allow us some leeway.

We've had no problem using Fastpasses after the timeframe listed on them. Like mentioned, they are only sticklers on people arriving too early. It's the same at Disneyland California. We used "late" FPs all the time during our March trip. The CMs didn't even bat an eye at the FP.

However, I read elsewhere on the boards that the CMs at WDW may "comment" on the late arrivers. But, with the wording on the FP they can't deny you entry to the ride/attraction. If you experience a problem, ask to speak with a Manager. The Manager will wave you through. No problem.

Now, you can't use a FP you got on Monday for Wednesday. The FP DOES expire on the date listed. They ARE strict about that.

On a few occasions, I have overheard WDW guests talk about their FP expired and they can't use them anymore. I have "politely" interjected numerous times to let the people know they CAN still use them. Most people are very gracious for this information and usually ask, "Then, why doesn't it say that on the ticket????". Good question. However, there have been others that give me a dirty look and walk away from the attraction. Their loss, our gain.

Have a magical trip!

Jennifer

We have never tried to use it really far after the fast pass time, just maybe 15 min. because we were on a different ride and it took longer than anticipated. I was freaking out that they weren't going to let us on after our time passed (this was for TSM- so very important not to wait in the normal line), but they didn't even bat an eye and let us come through without even saying anything. Every other time we have come during our appointed time.

Thank you everyone for your input. Just think all these years we've been throwing out Fast Passes because the time had passed.

It makes sense for them to accept expired FPs because they want to encourage people to use FPs as much as possible.

Um, if it's perfectly within the rules, how can it be "cheating"?
